ELECTRO - A STORY OF HEARTBREAK

Collision

     Catalyx was tired. Very tired. She had been spinning and spinning and spinning for hours. Being a cube was rough. For one, the blinding blue light she emitted could blind her as well. To prevent herself from looking as if a gigantic camera had gone off in her face, she had to keep herself from spazzing out when things got really awesome. It was hard, to say the least. Also, she had to spin to keep herself moving. And spin, and spin... Oof...

     After a few endless minutes of spinning, she began to daydream. In her head, beats dropped, basses ground, and melodies swirled. Dubstep, Electro House, Neurofunk. Then suddenly, *squish.* A vertex had collided with her face. Catalyx got annoyed. She beeped louder than she had ever beeped in her life. The other cube emitted a high-pitched burble as he was incapacitated by a strong glow. Catalyx began to repeatedly hit her head on her opponent with an agitated expression. "BOOP, BOOP, BOOP, BOOP!" the other hexahedron pleaded. With a grudging "Brrrrrrrrrr," Catalyx ceased. "Ex'za?" her victim dared to ask.

What is your name?

     "Ex'vela Catalyx," she responded. She looked at the cube for the first time. Oh. With a little lag maneuver, the other polyhedron, a metallic figure, buzzed. So adorable! "Ex'vela Quarx," he introduced himself, just as two other cubes crashed into him. "Za o'veza Chronzyx za Phazyx!"

I am Quarx, and we are Chronzyx and Phazyx!

     Catalyx was delighted. Nobody had ever greeted her with such energy! She materialized an antenna in the traditional Hedron-Hadron greeting.  They did too.

     Over the next few weeks, Catalyx spent time with the three. She spun, and spun, and spun. They shared delightful jokes. Her favorite was, "Kax hae'r k'net ae'n? Phrox meta au'phar aph'lyx!"

Why was the cube trapped in a tornado? She had a rather stormy expression!

     After a while, Catalyx noticed that she was happier whenever Quarx was around. Whenever he got a millimeter closer, her nexus skipped a beat. It wasn't very long before she discovered she was in love. She just fell out of bed and landed on the love letter. It said,"Am'r vu! Yee! XD nega kine' phet'r am'r vu!" It meant, I wuv you! Yee! XD but still I srsly wuv you! It was adorable, kind, but with an air of complete seriousness underneath. Definitely Quarx.

     She decided to reciprocate by drawing a heart in the sky. Quarx's magnetic field blushed slightly as he witnessed it.

     A few minutes later, Catalyx opened the gate to her residence. It was Quarx, with his pals. She noticed how the other two, who usually made lots of noise and trouble, quietly slipped away. She stared at Quarx's eyes. Quarx stared back. She was mesmerized by how they emanated a solid glow of electric energy. When light glinted slightly off of Quarx's exoskeleton, she took it as her cue. She extended three antennae and pressed them to his face in the Hedron-Hadron version of a kiss. Quarx barely had time to extend his. They closed their eyes for a second. Then Quarx playfully booped his vertex on her face, reminding her of how they met. It was lovely.

A WEEK LATER... 

     Ra'nyx grinned. Today was his day to rain hell on this world. He descended slowly, his demented smile growing. He slowly cracked the glassy earth with his arm. 

     Catalyx and Quarx heard. They definitely heard. All of Hydra heard. And everyone raced to the scene. There he was, shattering the ground below them. Some people stared. Some people cried. Some people shouted. And before they knew what was happening, they were impaled one by one by Ra'nyx's sword-tipped antennae. Catalyx had to run. She searched for Quarx fervently. Everything was in a desperate panic. She couldn't see him at all in the chaos. And then she did. He had a blade sticking out of his head. "Krypha...KRYPHA!" 

No...NO! No, no, no, no, no... 

     You didn't need translation to hear what she was saying. "No, don't leave me! You have to stay! I love you! You're a part of my soul, my nexus! If you left, I couldn't even be considered alive inside!"

"Catalyx..."

     Quarx was barely alive. And Catalyx knew that he wouldn't be for much longer. But she loved him, so she fought anyway. "You can't die!"

     "Promise me you won't come after me. I know you'd stalk me to the ends of Hydra if this was a normal prank. But please don't. I love you because you are alive. I love you because you are strong. You almost knocked me out with that head of yours, remember? Run. Stay alive. Know that, even in death, I will always try to find you. Even if you can't see me, I will make sure to always be with you."

"No, not now!"

     "You would always say that whenever it was time to leave." Quarx's eyes began turning from white to purple.

"I want a future with you!"

     "They say Hedron-Hadron marriage is the simplest in the galaxy...Veza...That is what we say in marriage, no? You already carry our future, Catalyx. And you will protect them, right?"

"...Always."

     Quarx's eyes finished their transformation. Catalyx stared at his now-magenta orbs, and whispered:

"Till eternity..."
