I was in high school. Called a loner by my parents, I was socially awkward and accepted by a select few at the school. I was smart, yes, in honors classes and several academic clubs and organizations, but smarts don't win you friends. It seemed that being a simpleton would've been more good for me than being genius. It was the first days of fall in the Southeast region of the United States. It shouldn't have been this cold. Yet it felt as if it was fifty or below. I shrugged a bit and continued to walk, my focus now on the nature around me. As I turned onto the dusty road that my home was located on, a hand suddenly gripped at my arm. Said hand gripped me back. The last thing I saw before my eyes shut was a shadow of a lanky body. Then darkness.
