"You'll never know if you don't ever try again." -Panic! At the Disco
(a/n So so sorry for another late chapter guys! What with 8th grade promotion and starting high school soon!! we've both been really busy. Also sorry that this is a short chapter , but there's a lot to be done for our grades... let's just say we do a lot more writing than we do homework *wink*. Please enjoy!)
In the empty, echoey hallway I heard the clicking of mine and Blake's shoes on the hard floor. My hand was in Blake's warm one and it felt surprisingly... nice. I barely knew this guy, but he didn't make me feel like anyone else in my life did. Where Joesephe filled me with passionate fury, and Chadd made me feel guilty and dirty, and Alfredo made me feel excited in a scary way... Blake made me feel warm. At peace.
That's crazy. You barely know the guy, Vael.
He spun to me in the hallway and smiled, his earthy brown hair flopping over his grassy eyes. His expression looked stressed, like he knew about Mr. Stephens and didn't like it. Like he wanted to protect me. It made me feel... fluttery. In a familiar but also not familiar way.
He can't possibly like you, he doesn't know you. And you don't know him!!!
"Vaelyumme," he said, making my name sound like honey from his lips, "can I show you something?" I cocked my head, knowing I needed to get to class, but intrigued. Would this end up being another creepo situation?
I hope not.
Before I could reason with myself, I felt my head nod in affirmation. I was skipping class to go somewhere with an almost stranger who didn't feel like a stranger even though I knew he was my heart didn't feel like he was.

When I saw where we were, my heart skipped a beat. I swung around to face Blake.
"How?..." I asked, and he beamed at me. His smile was nice.
But he'd taken me to the farm. The place I always wanted to go when my feelings were just to much. The place I found solace in nature and in my true best friend: Thunder. Did Blake know I loved it here?
He grasped my hand and led me to the grassy field, even though my heart yearned for Thunder. I needed to tell my trusty horse what was going on in my chaotic life. I needed it more than a bee needs flowers to pollinate. It was a yearning, but I let Blake lead me.
"It's beautiful here, isn't it?" he said calmly. I nodded, feeling a light breeze blow through my hair. I looked up at Blake and he seemed so at home here, like he spent almost as much time her as I did.
"Do you come here a lot?" I blurted before I could think. He smiled in a funny way and responded, "Yeah, I actually do." I hesitated, then said, "I've never seen you before, and I come a lot. Actually, it's my grandpa's farm. I have a horse here who's my favorite living creature in the whole wide world." Blake smiled again.
When he looked up, he realized I was looking at him weirdly. "I like horses too," he finally said, then added, "I normally actually come here during my free period, so you wouldn't see me probably." I nodded, understanding.
"So, was there something you wanted to show me?" I asked. His face turned darker at my inquiry, but he waited to respond.
"Actually, yes there is. Here, let's go to the chicken coop, you'll see," he responded. I let him lead the way even though I knew this place like the back of my hand.
"What's so important about the chicken coop?" I asked. I was grateful that he'd pulled me away from Mr. Stephens, but Blake was still kind of a stranger. He had taken me on this weird adventure without knowing me super well, and I was perturbed.
"Well," he said, "it's actually somewhat of a mystery. I'd heard you love this place a lot... I figured you'd be able to help me solve it." He looked so hopeful and earnest. I nodded, becoming intrigued.
We finally made it to the chicken coop, where Blake hesitated. He looked back at me haltingly, then turned to face it again. He opened the door to a couple squawks from the chickens, but what my gaze fell upon in the coop gave me shivers.
Holy shnikeys.
Laying all around the chicken coop we're various chickens...
Covered in their own blood.
(a/n Us again! Thank you guys for being so understanding as we finish up 8th grade. During summer it should most likely never be late, plus we have a lot more coming story-wise!!! See you guys at the next update!!!!)
