I am a tech savy person, one that has grown in IT even before I reached university, I had a mentor my uncle an  accountant shared the same interest with me. he has taught me alot and help me build my foundations, now I recently just finished off working for an HP service centre started there a couple of years ago when i was only 19.

My love for technology is so great and when the smartphones came out, I really went for it I was lucky enough that my mom bought one for me, it was an Iphone 3g.

The first thing i ever learnt was jailbreaking it. I remember the apps called instolous which was a window to apptrackr.org enable users to download paid apps for free. ofcourse its not very Christian as the situaion gets reversed you wouldnt want to be providing users your hard work for free...

Slight long Introduction there.

A year ago. I recieved the samsung galaxy s4 as a birthday present. coming from the IOS world. I see it as the same blueprint of apple, a little different in the layout. I also have a bad habit of drawing conclusions base on small facts or information I gather. basically I thought that google play would have similar apps in the appstore but less in contents. The plauge of advertisments present in the s4 is so annoying. my phone from time to time would also beep randomly, while theres noting on the notification. believe me my interest for the samsung was so depleted from that point on. I use the device for its most simplest functions while I was ony my Ipad jailbreaking and doing alot more "cool" stuff that i thought android would not have a shot at doing.

An  event in the future is about to take place, Its someone special birthday. without a job atm I wasn't able to get a high end phone to make it worst the recipient is currenly using a reserve phone as her touchscreen phone gave up working.

So with a bit less expenditures I found a great phone. its a samsung s4 mini, slightly cheaper to get the korean release, but after changing its language uninstalling some korean applications its good as a normal samsung release.

I could not give the gift in its stock condition, me using my phone as  a sms and call + facebook device, I would not want to share the same experience. This brought me to Rooting, It seems very scary that bricking a phone is very true in the worst case. however I am a no risk no reward type of guy. I learnt that rooting merely takes 2 mins!. a simple youtube video demonstrated how to root. ofcourse only for certain phones apparently googling autoroot one of the results will give you a list of models that can be rooted in a couple of mins

-Downloading the file for your phone altough i must warn you to only download the EXACTLY the same model for your device.

-After which we unrar the rar file downloaded.

-We connect out samsung device to our computer and allow it to be detected, if it doesnt get detected try installing samsung kies.

-We Turn off our samsung phone only after verifying its connected.

-Open up the unrared download file.

-Right click run as admin the odin software.

-click on PDA and select the .tar.md5 file from the same directory where odin is located.

-Boot the device in recovery mode by pressing power home and volume down button at the same time.

-Press the volume up button on the next prompt.

-hit start on Odin :)

The entire process takes 2 mins.

You may notice I did not provide the link to where the autoroot files are downloaded from, ofcourse most of us live our lives according to certain quotes. one of my favourite is " Fish for a man and you feed him for the day, Teach a man how to fish you feed him for a lifetime"

This is not hard stuff. I also quote that teaching yourself how to do something you will never forget how to do it again.

Once the phone is rooted here are some of the stuff you can do

- Buy a converter cable allows you to connect usb stick into your samsung phone, youll need the corresponding app called stick mount.

-you can even connect a ps3 controller and play games, very nice if you were to do it on a tablet

-my favourite free data, now i get free internet wherever I am, I enjoy streaming music videos from youtube and it doesnt even buffer

-Kill wifi of other devices, ofcourse it can be harmful in the wrong hand. but for an IT guy like myself. a suspected device can consume bandwidth most of the time slows down my games. troubleshooting needs me to go from one device to another. with this app I can kill specific devices wifi for trialing and error to isolate where the problem is.

-adding screen effects, my wallpaper changes every 30 sec, no more boring static wallpapers

-download torrents

-this one is for free Greenify, an apps that allows you to hibernate apps like facebook, twitter, viber and many more which means they are in idle mode. they will no longer be consuming any battery  but if a notifcation comes up that apps will wake itself up and you will not miss a thing

Guys the name of these apps are not hard to find :) I will let you do the research as I believe it will help you rather than rely on someone to cater your needs. but dont worry if you happen to get stuck feel free to message me and ill reveal it for you.

There are many more things to do on a samsung phone. I now found love for a device I once sought to throw.

After accomplishing such great things for the gift, I did the same on my own phone. the gift is currently on the plane heading to its future owner :)
