"that game was rigged, i swear."
renjun and effie were walking away from a mini game that was set up for the children of the area, renjun complaining that the only reason he didn't win was because it was rigged.
effie laughed at him, "or you're just a bad player?"
renjun frowned at her, "i swear it is! just look at the next person, they'll lose too. i bet you two chocolate chip cookies on it."
effie shrugged, accepting the bet. "fine. but they have to be the good chocolate chip cookies."
the two sat on a bench near one of the food stalls, and found a kid - about twelve - trying out the game. renjun pointed to him, "just wait and see."
effie rolled her eyes, then focused on the boy. from a distance, you'd think they were two pedophiles preying on the kid considering they were staring intensely without breaking their gaze.
the kid then acted. he threw the ball at the cans, knocking nothing down. the cans stood tall, and renjun smirked. "told y-"
effie shushed him, "he has one more try, dude. better get off your high horse, since he isn't gonna lose."
renjun gave out a scoff, but then stared at effie as she looked at the kid. she was beautiful, the pink string lights accentuated her every feature, making renjun feel a certain type of happiness he hadn't ever felt before.
just then, effie gave an excited cheer and fist bumped the air. "i'll be waiting for the chocolate chip cookies whenever you decide to buy them, loser."
renjun huffed, "meanie. it was rigged just for me since i was an adult."
effie laughed, "adult?" she then coughed and said in between the two coughs, "sore loser."
renjun shoved her lightly, "okay, fine. i admit defeat."
"let's go eat more junk food, junnie."

"i guess this is it."
effie furrowed her brows, "dude, you have seen way too many romantic movies lately. this isn't it, we'll be texting again in the next hour or so."
rejun smiled, then got back in the yellow taxi, "bye, meanie."
"bye, loser."
as renjun was being driven away with the windows down, he heard effie shout in mockery, "it was rigged, effie. i swear!"
