I wasn't thinking. I couldn't think. I was just running. Running the hell away from whatever happened. I retraced my steps, running towards the edge of town when the boys and I were dropped off. The boys. The screams... no, I wasn't going to think like that. Another explosion sounded. This one closer to me. My ears were ringing and my head was throbbing, as I jumped over fallen bricks, and trees. There was fire everywhere. The gardens were on fire, and what was left of the houses were too. That's when I stopped dead in my tracks.

A girl.

A girl was screaming. There was somebody else here. I ran towards the place where I heard the scream. Where I heard the gunshots. Maybe that why I wasn't thinking. I was running towards gunshots. But I had to find this girl, and of course the boys.

Another scream echoed through the air as another explosion went off. I veered right, towards the scream. I ran onto a gravel path to take me behind the houses, when another explosion sounded. I flew backwards hitting against the wall of a house. I pressed onwards, my head painfully throbbing and my legs hurting as each of my feet hit the ground. A warm trickle ran down my head, hoping that it was sweat, I raised my hand to wipe it away, only to find my own blood. A painful gasp escaped my mouth, looking at my hand covered in my own blood. Another explosion to my far right. Another scream to my left. Taking a shaky breath, I ran to my left, trying to find the scream. I jumped over trees, and fallen bricks, the screams were more frequent this time, drawing farther and farther away from me.

"HEY," I shouted, "WHERE ARE YOU? I'LL HELP YOU."

Well, honestly i couldn't really help myself, but it was worth a try. But there was no answer, no screams, just pure silence-- except for the occasional explosions, but that was different. I heard footsteps approaching, and the loading of a gun. I drew in a breath, and my eyes bulged. My hands became clammy, and I couldn't move. I wonder what it feels like to die. I thought as i tried to take a few tentative steps backwards. I heard the sound of the door opening, and a hand going around my mouth. It was soft, and seemed fragile, like a rose.

I wonder if people thought crazy things when they were about to die.
