Everything around me got blurry and lighter. I felt a stinging pain in my stomach and then all of a sudden everything got black and I didn't feel anything anymore. At first it was silent until I started hearing a ringing which got louder and lounder until it hurt my ears, but I couldn't do anything to make it stop. Then the ringing turned into a beeping and the horrific pain in my stomach came back. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't. It was as if I was trapped in my own body. The only thought I had was "If this was my bodies way of fighting for life, just let me die."

And after, what felt like eternity of pain, it slowly got less and less bad until it was just a little sting on my right side. I even got used to the beeping and it started calming me down, because it was a constant and it didn't go away. It was there for me and that was what I needed right now, because I felt like everyone else left me.

And then this warm calming bubble got destroyed. I managed to open my eyes a bit and all I could see was white. I pushed my eyelids up a bit more and saw my mother. I saw her flip out, but I couldn't hear her, which made me happy. But this happiness didn't stay for long, because the pain in my stomach came back suddenly and stronger than ever.

I started screaming which made my ears work again and I heard all the people around me panic. At this point I got scared, but my anxiety wasn't important at that moment. I just wanted this pain to stop. A woman, probably a nurse, came up to me, strapped my arm on the bed and put one more needle in my arm and pushed a few buttons. It took a while, but then finally the pain started to get less.

As soon as the pain was gone enough for me think, I started remembering what happened. I started screaming Luke's name over and over again until my mother came up to me, put her hand on my arm and tried calming me by calling me honey. "Get your hands off me you homophobic slut!", I threatened her. She jumped away. "Behave yourself Daniel, I am your mother!", she complained. The nurse, who apparently had my best interest in mind, brought her outside.

When the doctor came in, I directly asked about Luke. She informed me that he was in a coma, but she couldn't tell me more, because I'm not related to him. After knowing he was alive I calmed down a bit and looked around the room for the first time. As I looked out the window I saw red and brown leaves and even a few trees without any leaves. This confused me, because it just was the beginning of summer and I haven't been unconscious for long.

"What date is it?", I asked the doctor. "It's the 9th of October", she answered calmly. "No, that can't be! How? It just ... no it's not! Summer has just started it's not over yet!" "Calm down, everything's alright. Your body just needed some time to get better.", the nice lady explained. "So, I was in a coma too?", I tried to understand the situation. "Yes, you were. You were in a natural coma for about a week, then you started waking up, but your vital signs dropped, so we put you in a medically induced coma and tried waking you up once a week, but there has always been a problem, until today."

"Thank you for saving my life", I smiled at her. She nodded and was about to leave, but I stopped her one last time. "Excuse me Miss", she turned around, "Has the police caught him yet?", I asked her. She looked confused: "Caught who yet?" "Nick. Nick Herondale." "Why would they catch Nick Herondale? He was cleared of all murder charges in summer. He didn't commit the murder of Cindy Johnson, or do you know something. He d...", I got excited about bringing him to justice, until she stopped me. "Wait for a moment, I'll get the police to talk to you Talking to me wouldn't help."

I had to wait for half an hour until the police showed up. When they finally did I directly started explaining what Nick had told me and what he did to Luke and me. They took notes of everything I said and asked a few extra questions, so they would know every detail. In the end they explained that if Nick wouldn't confess it would probably come to a trial, where they would need me as a witness. Then they left.

It felt good to have that secret off my chest. Partially, because I wouldn't have to lie anymore, but mainly because if something were to happen to me, they would know it was Nick. I'm still wondering how I could fall for him or how I could have missed that he was a psychopath all those years. There must have been signs, but I couldn't think of any, except for him being jealous once, because he thought I had a girlfriend.
