jimin remembers exactly when it happened.
he's loved taehyung his whole life. from the moment their parents introduced them at the delicate age of seven up until now, he's loved him with every fiber in his body.
taehyung was easy to love.
jimin knows he loved taehyung, but he remembers exactly when he fell in love with him.
maybe he'd been in love with him the whole time. maybe that's why taehyung's soft smiles, specially reserved for him, made him feel so full inside. why his soft touches would make him feel so light. why the time spent away from him dragged on so long.
jimin probably was in love with taehyung long before he realized, but he remembers vividly when he knew.
it was only last summer, their last week before senior year started. it was dark outside, their only source of light being the stars. "it must be sad being a star." jimin had tore his eyes away from the constellations to watch him. he wasn't looking back. "did you know almost all stars are by themselves? just sitting there all alone, light years away from one another." he looked so sad, so distraught that the stars that appeared so close were all alone. "it must be so sad."
taehyung suddenly turned on his side, the rough material of his roof scraping his skin.
jimin found it endearing. a small, fond smile graced his lips. "you know, you're my favorite person, tae."
his lips parted for a moment, surprised by the words before he pushed jimin's shoulder with a small murmur, "so cheesy." jimin only laughed softly and gazed back up at the stars. moments like these with him felt timeless. jimin could only count on one hand when he didn't feel peaceful with taehyung.
taehyung's hand silently slipped into his. a small squeeze. jimin closed his eyes. "you're my favorite person too, jimin-ah." he spoke softly, hardly above a whisper. another squeeze. he didn't have to say it. jimin could hear his thoughts when he gave his hand another gentle squeeze. you're my person, i love you too, i understand.
a surge of affection swarm through his veins once he opened his eyes, taehyung's tired ones already gazing at him fondly. with taehyung, he felt limitless. maybe that's why he didn't hesitate to silently lean forward, intent clear.
he didn't have to worry about what would happen after. taehyung was his person. he'd always be his person.
his lips were soft, tasting faintly of his strawberry lip balm. it was short, the experience they both lacked making it meek, but nonetheless unforgettable.
and although taehyung made him feel limitless, he still hesitated to look at him after. so instead, he laid back against the roof and stared up at the stars. taehyung stared at him, the distracting sound of a lone car driving by echoed in ears.
taehyung's hand effortlessly slid into his once again. a feeling of relief. he laid down and gazed up at the lonely constellations. "i'm glad we're not stars, jimin-ah."
jimin knew then, when taehyung had softly squeezed his hand, that he was in love with him.
and maybe because taehyung made him feel so at peace, so light, that he didn't have to worry if taehyung loved him the same way. it didn't matter, taehyung would always be his person.
