"Depends, should I put on armor first? Am I in trouble?" Zayn asked.

She shook her head. "No, you aren't in trouble," she said. "Destiny, can you go in the living room for a few minutes and read?"

"Mummy!" Destiny whined.

"Destiny Hope Malik," she scolded her.

"I'm going," she huffed and grabbed her book and stomped off.

"Such an attitude," Kaia said with a shake of her head.

"Reminds me of her mother in a lot of ways," he said with a laugh.

"Whatever, Malik," she said and playfully threw a dish towel at him. "So...."

"Ouch, that hurt," he said letting the dish towel roll off his chest.

"Don't be such a baby," she said and poured herself a glass of wine and sat down next to him at the table. "Are you okay with this?"

"I'm more worried about how you feel about this. Ahmir wanting to back to London and Marian jumping at the chance to help him," Zayn said pulling a beer from the fridge. "How do you really feel?"

She took a long drink of her wine and looked at him. "Terrified," she admitted. "Afraid. Am...am I doing the right thing for our son?"

"Did you see the look on his face. He was so afraid to hand me the phone. Worried what I would say, I could see him nervously peeking around the corner trying to judge how I was handling the phone call.  We said that we would do anything for our children."

She reached for his hand. "I know and I still stand by that," she said. "He could barely look me in the eye when we first started talking." She held tightly to his hand. "I want to go home by your birthday, Zayn. I don't want to live in California anymore."

"Tell me what terrifies you about this idea of Ahmir going to England to stay with Marian."

"That when we go home he won't want to come home to us," she said and looked away. She was trying to keep her emotions in check. "I shouldn't feel this way. I know that but...he's...he's my baby. I'm sorry," she apologized.

"I'm glad you finally made a decision of when we can go home because I was just waiting for you to say the word," Zayn said.

"Ahmir has always been a child of two mums and I think he always will be, he loves you and Marian equally," Zayn said taking a big drink of his beer. "He will come home because he only has one papa."

She looked at him. "Why didn't you say anything to me about it?" She asked and then got up and grabbed the bottle of wine and poured some more into her glass. "At least I know if something would ever happen to me, he'd always have Marian to be there for him." She sighed heavily and let her fingers play with the stem of her glass.

"Baby you were going through so much with Bruce, Katia and all the stuff about finding out who your mother really was. I wanted to give you time to bond with your father. I'd do anything to see you smile," he admitted.  "Plus this is where is music is. The people with connection for our sound."

She gave him a small smile. "It's been so overwhelming, Zayn." She admitted. "Sometimes it's been too much for me to even get my thoughts straight." She said. "Do you think we can finish the album in three months?" She asked nervously.

"You needed the time to sort things out and we needed to be patient and support you." He said sipping on his beer.  "I believe we can finish it in time. We are on a roll with the album already.  I'm figuring maybe one more month."

"How did I ever get so lucky to have you in my life?" She asked him. "Sometimes I still don't think I deserve you. You must still think I'm incredibly neurotic," she said and quickly wiped her tears. "You...you won't sell this house will you?"
