We fell in love, despite our differences, and once we did, something rare and beautiful was created. For me, love like that has only happened once, and that’s why every minute we spent together has been seared in my memory. I’ll never forget a single moment of it. Nicholas Sparks

Brooklyn Boy
They lived in the same neighborhood. They took the same route to work. They were even school mates in high school and college. Sometimes on a good day, they’d have a conversation about the grouchy land lord in their apartment building. But not once did she ever acknowledge his admiration for her.
He’d make an effort every morning to see her, to greet her with a smile, to say at least a few words to her or even crack a dumb joke, but she only took it as a friendly gesture. He was her neighbor after all. They were bound to have a conversation or two. The only thing that was keeping him from asking her out for a cup of coffee was Bryce Mariano. The guy from the upper east side who was courting her.
He drove foreign sports cars and wore the chicest suits that Danny knew he couldn’t afford. Bryce had money, so he was able to give Emily anything she wished for. Clothes. Jewelry. Brand new shoes. Almost everything that Danny wished he could give her. But because of his minimum wage salary at the local record store, he was just an ordinary Brooklyn boy with a crush on a girl. He was out of her league.
But all did he know, Bryce was far from the man she ever wanted in a relationship. Although he was wealthy and was able to give her all the materials she wanted in the world, he was shallow and crass. All he cared about what his reputation and the high class parties he attended. He never really listened to her when she needed someone to vent to. She was pretty much like a trophy wife to him. And she didn’t like that.
She wanted a man who was able to greet her well. A man who wasn’t afraid to ruin his pride by telling her a lame joke just so he could make her smile. She needed a man who would listen to her when she need someone to talk to. She wanted a simple man. A kind man.
She wanted a man like him...Someone like Danny Evans.
