We were getting ready for prom.
I took a look at my besties.
They looked absolutely stunning in their dresses, which were just made for them.
A dark blue one like the night sky and a soft pink one with a golden shimmer.
Oh, and their make up (even they don't need any): Drop dead gorgeous, i can tell.
They will catch everyone's attention.
Then I looked at myself.
This time I wore no glasses, contacts it is.
No pimples because of the extra much make up.
Highlighter: literally everywhere.
High Heels high enough to strengthen my legs.
They aren't as thin as my besties.
I smiled at my mirror me.
But I didn't show my teeth because there is a little gap between the two front teeth.
A little black dress with glitter.
I was shining. Sparkling.
But the sparkle didn't reach my eyes.
I was a princess, but not a pretty one, I'm sorry i tried.
I wished I could look like my besties.
Deep breath.
I felt like i was out of place. A stranger.
I tried so damn hard to look good enough. Nobody will see me.
As ever. It's ok.
„You ready?"
I smiled. Was I? no.
„Yes, course let's get going!", I answered instead.
I had to be.
