"Babe! You were so amazing! I'm so proud of you!" I say enthusiastically as I throw my arms around my boyfriends' neck.

He laughs as he says," What can I say? You're my good luck charm." He kisses me on the cheek and he runs past me to meet up with the rest of the team. There are a lot of high fives and laughs and slapping each others asses within that team circle. I can't help but smile in his direction as I move a piece of blonde hair back behind my ear.  I'm just so proud of my boyfriend.

"Kay! Over here!"

I turn around and see my best friend, Madeline, waving for me to come join her. I give Madi a big smile as I run over to her. "I thought you left during the sixth inning?"

She shakes her head. "Oh no, I was here the whole time," she says with a wink.

"Madi, are you serious?! Who were you with?"

She puts her arm around me and starts guiding me towards the huddle of sweaty teens that is the baseball team. "See that guy standing next to your man? With the blonde hair?"

"Ew, you made out  with Jason?"

"Oh honey, we did a little bit more than that," she whispers with a wink as she goes right into the middle of the huddle of sweaty, baseball boys.

I can't help but laugh and shake my head. I love Madeline, I really do, but she's acting very different lately. She is hanging out with all of the popular kids: ya know, the ones who drink way too much and have sex with every human being on the planet and have enough money to buy the whole damn country? All I know is, Madi used to HATE the people that she's with now. I remember all of the countless conversations and jokes that we would make at their expense. But now, it's almost like she's one of them. We barely have time to hang out anymore because she is at a party or shopping with one of the girls. And her and Jason? Just last month he said hi to her in the hallway, and Madi demanded that he never speak to her again because she didn't want his "nerd rubbing off on her." And now she had sex with him? I may not be the smartest person alive, but I do know that Madeline Baker is changing, and it does not look like that it's for the best. But, whoever she is turning into, that's my best friend. We have been best friends since we were four years old. All I can do is continue being her best friend and be here for her when she falls.

I guess I must look really out of it or something because Liam leaves his team and runs over to me. He cups my face in his hands and says," Everything okay Kay?"

I smile up at him and say," yeah, everything's fine."

He gives me a slight kiss on the lips. "You ready to go then?"

"Actually, my mom said she wanted me home right after the game." I intertwine our fingers together and look into his eyes. "Come over after?"

He smiles. "Of course." He kisses my forehead and runs over to the dugout to grab his things.

I sigh and turn on my heel and begin walking towards my car. I pull out my phone and send a text to Madi:

Me: Hey M, not going to the afterparty 2nite. Mom wants me home :( c u soon!

I send that text to Madi, knowing that she could probably care less if I go out after the game or not anymore. I can't seem to remember the last time that we have really hung out, just the two of us. Yeah, me, her and Liam will hang out sometimes, but even that is barely happening anymore. You would think that when two people have been friends for as long as Madeline and I have that this would not be happening. We would be hanging out and talking about boys and getting drunk together and making other dumb choices together. But it seems like she has other friends to do that stuff with. I don't mind that she has other friends. I just mind that she is acting like I mean nothing to her, and she doesn't seem to care that she's leaving me all alone...
