The night we camped in the dense woods of Minnesota will be forever etched in my mind. First reason is that we had a great night outing after a long time and the second reason is the weirdest of them all.

We had reached in edge of the jungle after driving whole day from Seattle to the countryside of Minnesota. We could've easily taken a flight, but there's no "fun" in it, as Hardin quotes. The result, unsurprisingly, was an exhausting one day ride with frequently exchanging drivers. However, we had reached before sunset, and started setting tents ourselves.

"Told you, would've been more fun if we just made our tent from supplies in the jungle."

Hardin shrugged with his ever cocky smirk which we wished to wipe off every day.

"Hardin, would you bother telling us since when you started to watch Survivor? I don't remember you watching,"

Landon sniggered while setting up the bonfire. The jungle was quite, occasionally hoots of monkeys and we sat in the dark canopy of trees hide us. Soon, the red patches of sky were turning purple, as the twilight marked its presence. Nora started her preparation for Barbecue. Despite being a pastry chef, she was quite good at meals too. So we had no headaches regarding food. I had brought enough grocery to last a week, stocked inside our car.

It was dark, Landon and Nora was barbecuing the turkey I brought. Aroma of the grilled turkey was wafting in the whole area; I feared if that would attract any predator. Thought we came after researching about the jungle, I couldn't eliminate the fear of predator animal from my mind.

The weather on the other hand, was quite fine, and the heat was not overpowering. The fresh smell of pine was refreshing, and the sky was a little cloudy. I didn't know why, but I felt a tension crackling in the air. It was unusual, and something dormant. I thought perhaps I was too excited and imagined, keeping my negative thoughts aside. Hardin sat with his laptop, on root of the tree, while our food was getting cooked. He loved writing, and perhaps a new setting was helping him to find inspiration; something out of our busy city life in Seattle and New York. I decided to join him and cuddle, while he kept a steady eye on the screen, his fingers rapidly tapping the keyboard.

"What are you writing about?"

I kept my head on his chest, looking at the screen of his laptop. He gave a quick peck on my temple, circling my shoulder with his arms and pulling me closer. He smelled of pine, same as the forest.

"About you."

"What about me?"

His smile widen as he fixed his gaze on me.

"How you'd look like in middle of thunderous-"

He couldn't finish before a thunder and lightning hit right next few meters away from where we sat. I instantly jumped and recoiled in his arms, while Nora gave an ear piercing scream from the bonfire. Instead of grilled turkey, the wood was filled with smell of burnt wood.

"That was close, it could've been us,"

Hardin holds me tighter, my heart still quivering like feather.

Bang!

No sooner our racing heart settled, overpowering smell gun power and sound took over

"What the actual hell?"

Hardin groans, and that time we seriously huddled together, not knowing what the hell was actually going on.

"Perhaps that was a poacher?"

Landon weakly says, holding Nora.

"With a baby?"

Landon said after we heard wails of a baby.

"We should call police, or call 911, this might be serious," I said

"Why do you think they're here? There's no network. We don't want to get in the mess." Landon being the smart-ass he was, said. It was dark and dangerous. But I only knew that something terrible was happening and it needed to stop. I started walking towards the direction I heard the wails. It was sort of creepy; a sudden thunder, gunshot and then wail of a baby. I could hear faint voices of Hardin and Landon trying to stop me, but I would care less. It felt like something was pulling me towards that mysterious baby. I could hear muffled voices and crackling of dried leaves.

"Would you ever listen to me?"

Hardin groaned, and but I didn't stop walking.

"You realize, you're taking all of us to a danger, Tessa?"

I heard Landon, he seemed a bit pissed off. He was ever calm and collected, seldom had he let his anger out, and he was definitely miffed with me. But I was pissed off too. The tug that I felt was too strong; I couldn't help myself.

"Then don't walk with me. Go and enjoy your dinner. Who said you to follow me?"

I said without turning my back.

"Hardin, why don't you say something?"

"What can I say to a PMSing lady,"

I could totally picture Hardin shrugging behind me. We silently walked there; the area where thunder had fallen was completely burned, and it was where the wail was coming from. Fortunately, we didn't see any shooter there. I wondered where the shot was from. The shoot could be lurking in shadows for all I knew. I desperately looked around for source of life and sound, when Nora shook me lightly and whispered.

"Tess, look,"

She pointed towards a burned canopy, and we could clearly hear the wail of a child coming from there. We walked there and saw a baby wrapped in the most exquisite material possible on earth. I've never seen something as gorgeous as it was. We were looking at the child with awe.

"Sweet mother of god,"

"Greetings, children of the Ninth realm,"

I and Nora shrieked at the voice while the boys jumped to shield us. There was a man, about 70 years old with an eye patch standing before us in the weirdest dress I've ever seen in my life.

"Didn't know a cosplay was going on, would've brought my own."

Hardin scoffed and looked at the man with his usual I-will-strangle-your-neck glare.

"Nothing to fear, children. I am Odin, king of Asgard and protector of Nine realms. I find you trusting, and so I believe you'll take care of Odinson, and hand him over to none but Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D."

"What the actual fuck, we're not some sort of knights in shining armor or shit-"

Before Hardin could complete his sentence, the weird looking old man vanished in thin air, leaving streak marks on the ground, with a thunder, again.

"I swear this is some sort of prank,"

Nora gripped my arm, and I took the child in my arms. He was the most beautiful creature I'd ever seen, with his hazel eyes and petite body. He was gorgeous.

"I hope you aren't think what I'm thinking, Tessa," Hardin warned me but I could care less.

"Let's take him to Nick Fury or whoever he is, shall we?"

All of them looked at me with exasperation and annoyance, but ditched the camping nonetheless.

If only we knew that child would be Thor, the God of Thunder.
