***SILENA'S MEMORY***

"Ma! Ma!" I called for my mother. "Look at my eyes!" I stared into my reflection in the water.

I was about five years of age. I was playing near the lake where Ma used to come everyday to meet up with her group of ladies at sunset. Ma was sitting in the middle of her hand and she got up hurriedly and rushed to me.

"What is it? What happened to your eyes?" She clutched my hand and made me turn to look at her.
" Oh...." She gasped." Dear me! Let's get you home." Ma quickly excused herself from her talk and dragged me away from in front of her friends.

The red headed woman's eyes were just like mine in the reflection. They were almost like two swirling balls of fire. Anyone can imagine it looked ghastly. But I felt something else too, a pull. Making me groggy and blurring my vision. "Urk!" I crawled backwards. It made me feel so helpless.

The lady bent down and brought her face close to me. I could only see her eyes seemingly burning up. My head felt heavy, like I was carrying a mountain on it. The lady kept coming closer, and closer. I tried to get up and run but some kind of otherworldly pull made me sit rooted to one place.

The lady had arrived so close that our noses almost touched. I could count each one of her lashes and feel her breath on my face. Slowly, she placed her lips against mine. I yelped. Trying to pull back was futile—as if I was stuck to her. My eyes widened. I could feel her swirling and sloshing her tongue inside my mouth. Goosebumps appeared on my skin.

The lady pulled back. I felt as if all my energy had been taken from me. I lay in a heap on the floor. "Why did you do that?" I rasped." Why did you do that, you crazy woman?!" I shrieked with all my force(which wasn't much). Everyone present in the room, gasped. Even the red lady. She had stood up and now was looking down at me, intensely.

"I'm not 'crazy woman' ", she spoke. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Leina, Chieftain of the Dragon Tribe, Leader of the Flares and the One With the Third Eye. I'm truly sorry if I offended—"

"—Stop it." I snapped out of fury." You call me here, saying you want to see me and end up kissing me?! Why? And now, if we're done with our meeting—could you kindly show me the way out of this village? I don't care if I'm hurt—I just want to leave this place."

Leina took a deep breath. "Silena...yes, I know your name and I know why you're at the forest. It's very tragic for a Flare like you to live like you do. Legend says, 'The Dragon Tribe shall unite all Flares of every land—while in the hands of an able leader—' I'll say it's true. You belong with us. You're one of us. You have to stay with us. Please do."

"What are you talking about?" I cried. "What's a Flare? And, I don't belong with you people. I have a life at the Forgotten Village. I need to get back!"

"Oh no. Don't you lie. You ran away from your Forgotten Village! I'm sorry for your grandmother too. But, you can meet her here, you know."

"But she's dead!"

" Yes. She has just shedded her body. Her spirit is still there and she's here with us."

"What...?" I was shell shocked. "You're lying."

"Do you want to see her? Your parents might be here too!"

I sat there, in a seeming trance. Ma? Pa? Gramma? How is this possible? But Leina's eyes didn't seem to lie.

"I'll take that as an affirmative." Leina smiled. "Nemi! Take her. She can come and go out of our Tribe anytime."

Someone helped me up from the ground, breaking my trance. It was Nemi. She slowly led me out of Leina's hut.
