My name is Amelia Grace Miller and this is my story.
I have long medium brown hair, hazel eyes, rosy lips, fair skin, and I'm quite skinny. I grew up in Notting Hill London it was a beautiful place full of colours and music I loved it here and it's what made my love for art and music grow but I never felt like I belonged
Yes I'm a quiet girl in class but it's just because I want to do well but since I have stayed quiet that's all everyone expects from me so people don't speak to me or invite me to parties because they think I'm boring or too quiet. It sucks!
Don't get me wrong I do have friends but even they just see me as quiet and leave me out of conversations
I guess I'm used to it though I've been the 'quiet' one since I started school but soon I'll be leaving high school and finally going to college I can start fresh with my friends just us.
Or that's what I thought...
———
"Amelia" my mum shouted for the fifth time "come down me and your father need to speak to you"
I sighed and rubbed my eyes opening my curtains letting a stream of bright light hit my room
I tied my messy bedhead hair up into a high ponytail a few pieces dropped down but it's fine I wasn't meeting anyone, I quickly washed my face and brushed my teeth before walking downstairs to meet my parents
"Hello family" I said walking into the kitchen where everyone was sitting kissing my baby sister on her forehead she giggled and threw a spoonful of food off her highchair
"I'll clean it" My dad said standing up
My dad well technically step-dad but he's been married to my mum most of my life so to me he's my dad. Anyway he was tall, more tanned and darker skinned than me and my mum he had short black hair and was also skinny but he had a more athletic shape than me and he had blue eyes
"Amelia take a seat" my mum said seriously
My mum was slightly short, blonde haired, brown eyes, and fair skinned like me, I never really knew who I looked more like I have qualities from them both and my baby sister she well is a baby she doesn't have any hair but she has bright blue eyes and is adorable
"What's going on why are you all being so serious?" I did as she said and sat down at our kitchen table
"Your father has been offered a new job" My mum said hesitantly
"That's great ! Why are you acting like it's bad" I said starting to rethink this situation, what was going on?
"It's in Los Angeles Lia" my father continued what my mum was saying turning to face me. Also yea Lia it's my nickname, short for Amelia who would of guessed
"What! You're leaving us" I said scrunching up my face angrily
"Not quite sweetie, we are all moving to New York" my mum said, I stood up from the table
"What about my school ? My friends?" Not like they would care anyway but still I needed an arguable point
"You'll go to a new school, make new friends" my mum pointed for me to sit down again
"When do we leave" I asked staying stood up
"Three days" she simply said
"That's so soon why didn't you tell me earlier" I groaned this was so frustrating my entire life was getting picked up and moved and all I have is three days
My mum ignored my response "Better get packing"
I stormed off upstairs, thinking about everything I was just told New York, three days I texted my friends all on a group chat to tell them I was leaving
-Amelia and her school friends carried on talking for about an hour until her door opened-
"Don't you ever knock" I said not looking up my phone
"How did you know it was me" he said
"Because you never knock" I put my phone on my bed and looked up it was my neighbours son Landon. Landon was tall, he had light brown hair and green eyes and was fair skinned
We had been best friends for most of our lives since he moved over from America, he's a year older than me but he's homeschooled so I always forget
"My mom just told me about you guys moving, how you feeling" he said closing the door behind him as he came in
I patted next to me on the bed he listened and sat next to me "Well I'm going to LA, I'm leaving my school, my friends, you" I paused "how do you think I'm feeling"
"Well I would of said excited but now I'm not so sure, it's not that bad LA is great from what I remember and you'll meet new people besides think of it this way you can start fresh be whoever you want"
"I like the sound of that but I swear if you forget about me I'll be pissed" I smiled
"Language young lady" he joked I playfully pushed him but he ended up falling off the bed
"Are you okay ?" I asked leaning over the side of the bed, holding in a laugh
"Yep just peachy" he replied, I rolled my eyes
"Lend me a hand?" he asked, I put my hand over the bed to help him up when he pulled me down off the bed I fell right on top of him
"Now we're even" he joked with a smirk on his face "I'll miss you Firefly" I loved that nickname he had loads for me but that one was is my favourite,
He started calling it me because its how we first met we were little kids and our parents arranged for us all to go on a little trip together it was night time and I wandered off getting lost but Landon ended up finding me running around with the fireflies
"I'll miss you too" I said smiling at him but of course perfect timing
"That door better be open!" My dad shouted up from downstairs. I quickly got up and opened the door
"Yep it is" I shouted back down
"I should go" Landon stood up from the floor and started to go out the door, "text me later" he said once he was out the door I just nodded
