As I walked through the big doors of the museum,I felt irritated.
Mother wanted me to be here at noon to greet the Chinese Art Ambassador with her. I felt nauseated. Why couldn't she just let me be me for a change. All the years of piano lessons, ballet and other torture I had to go through to please her. She built me in her own image instead of mine. I had no choice when I was small, but now I'm of legal age to tell her to fuck off,and that was was exactly what I was gonna do. I dropped my Carmel Cappuccino into the trash can and made my way to the CEO's office. My sneakers tapping on the marble floors with every step, hushed voices from around the museum echoed off the giant walls where art was hanging. Kids laughed and ran around everywhere.
I was still in my own head as I bumped into something hard.
I snapped out of my thoughts as I looked up. The most beautiful blue eyes met mine."I'm terribly sorry,I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking."
"Its quite alright" he said.
He looked at me for a minute and I felt a blush come on.It's like he was analyzing me or something. He had a British accent, and it sounded amazing.
"Do you come here often?" he asked.
"Yes,my mother is CEO." I replied.
Oh,sweet jesus I'm melting. He is hot.
I mean those eyes are like the ocean,I swear if I look deep enough I might see the titanic.
Hello,I'll be your Rose if you'd be my Jack. I scoffed at my inner thaught.
He looked at me curiously."My Mother and I dont get along." I said, covering up my unladylike behavior.
He looked at his watch, and I noticed it was 10 after.
"Crap,I'm sorry mister blue eyes, but I'm late." I said running off.
I ran, more like catapulted to my mother's office.
As I neared the office,I slowed down and tried to regain my composure. I knocked once and the door opened reveling a very pissed off mother.
"I know I'm late, but I bumped into someone downstairs and had to apologize." I told her,it was part of the truth.
I walked into my mother's office, and there sitting on the sofa was a Chinese looking man,a young Chinese looking man at that. I thought the Chinese Art Ambassador was an older man.
"Mr.Hun,this is my daughter,Addison." She introduced me.
"Xiàwǔ hǎo,Huānyíng."I said.
Oh yea,did I forget to mention I can speak other languages. Well, the shedevil in front of me made me learn Chinese,Japanese,Russian,an Latin Spanish.
The man looked surprised, and glance to the side like he was hearing something.
"Xièxiè" he said, now looking at me.
Something was off about this whole meeting thing but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.
He stood up,and walked towards us."It was nice to meet you,Mrs.Day but I have to go."he said goodbye to my mother and then shot me a look.
Why was I receiving looks today, was there something wrong with my face,my hair? I looked down at myself unsure. Nope,Nothing wrong with my clothes.
Mr.Hun walked out of the office.
My mother looked at me with a pointed look."Addison, why must you be so difficult?" My mother asked.
I looked at her then, she was an older version of me. With beautiful features and long hair she always had in a tight bun atop her head.
"I'm not,Mother. You just dont see me the way I wished to be seen." I snapped.
I was getting irritated now,she ran my life and she wouldnt stop trying to control me.
