You never really notice how beautiful trees in the sunlight are until 7th period Trigonometry.

They swayed as their leaves floated softly to the ground. This was my favourite time of the year, when they were just beginning to fall.

As I tried to remember the name of a poem about autumn I had read, I was yanked out of my meditative trance.

"Blake? Have you been listening to anything I've been saying?" Ms. Terry Kent otherwise known as Scary Terry glared at me from across the room.

Not to be mistaken for a kindly old lady, S.T. had 70 years worth of hatred for children built up inside her frail body. She certainly lived up to her name.

I remembered when she came to the school, about half a year ago. I had unplugged my earphones and paused Panic! At The Disco's latest song.

When I looked up, instead of the familiar smiley face of Mrs. Harrow, there was a wrinkled yet pointy one squinting at me instead.

With a self esteem destroying tone of voice and hair pulled back into the most painful looking bun I had ever seen, she disciplined our class into military like order within half an hour.

Her best known feats included ripping up a 50 page project and pulling a boy two feet taller than her by his ear all the way to his parents house after he shot a spitball at her.

A hand slammed down on my desk, and reality crashed down upon me.

"Today, Mr. Skye!" S.T. yelled, spit flying.

"Uhh, the base...of the triangle..right angles...." Like I was going to do this after I left school anyway.

Ms. Kent's pupils enlarged at a terrifying rate. I braced myself.

"BLAKE SKYE! I HAVE ABSOLUTELY HAD IT WITH YOUR NO LEARNING ATTITUDE! THIS HAS GONE ON FOR TOO LONG! GET OUT OF MY SIGHT AND GO TO THE PRINCIPALS OFFICE!"

Gathering my books, I shuffled towards the door feeling silent stares on my back. The class knew better then to laugh amongst themselves. Everyone knew about the Wrath of Terry.

As I shuffled out I heard her shriek to the rest of the class,

"Can any of you idiot children answer my question or shall I keep you until 12 tonight?!"

My thoughts drifted back to trees as I made my way through the empty halls. Before I knew it, I had reached the front door of the principals office.

I explained briefly to his secretary. She asked me to take a seat and shut the door.

Earphones in hand, I slumped down into a waiting chair and shuffled my playlist.

"Sleeping with Sirens, huh? They're awesome."

I looked to my right to see a girl I had never seen before smiling brightly.

She had bright blue eyes and the most colourful array of clothes I had ever seen.

I stared for a second trying to take in the explosion of greens and reds before me.

"Uh, yeah, they're pretty good" I said in reply.

She smiled and said brightly,

"I'm Lisa! I just moved here! And you are?"

"Blake. Blake Skye." I attempted to smile.

Before she could speak again, the secretary came in and whispered in a monotone,

"Mr. Skye, the principal will see you now."

I stood up and made my way into his office.

"I'll see you around!" Just before I closed the door, I turned to see Lisa waving.
