Prologue

'Twas The Night of Christmas Eve

What was taking Rick so long? without meaning, too, she couldn't help but shuffle through the many possible theories, feeling more uneasy and anxious by the minute. Has Rick found Amy yet? what would happen when Rick stumbled upon Ross? She didn't think Ross could over power Rick, but there was always a chance - if Ross had the element of surprised.

Her phone rang in her pocket, and she jumped out of her skin. "I see you!" Ross sang as soon as she pressed the phone to her ear. "Standing out there on the street."

"At least I'm not the one hiding." Alison said, hastily. "Where are you?"

"Watching you from the second story window."

"Why don't you come out here and face me, coward." Alison challenged.

Laughter came from the other end that made Alison's blood run cold. "Outside?" that isn't where the game is being played, come inside and find us, Alison. We're waiting on you."

He ended the call.

With her heart in her throat, Alison headed towards the double doors and stepped into darkness. She didn't think that Ross knew Rick was inside. His voice sound playful and excited, not impatient or aggressive. Her only hope was that Rick had a plan or  found Amy alive inside.

Her eyes took several seconds the adjust to the dark. As soon as she was inside, the weather outside seemed to darken.

She trudged aimlessly through the dark, empty corridors of Pine Valley High School, haunted by the memory of, Ben King's final moments alive.

It was 11:30 am. A terrific storm was threatening to punish the small town. She's been walking around like this for ages before then, but didn't feel hungry, thirsty or exhausted in anyway.

When light ripped and lit up the dark sky, a ripple of thunder clapped, loudly outside, she barely flinched. Not even the devastating weather can distract her, smote her or slow her down from the goal. With every step she kept seeing, Jane, Dan, Amy, Rick, Spencer, Ben, Jack and Mom in her mind. With every step the horror that had happened to them ignited the agony inside her again, alongside, anger, grief and loneliness. Is this what Ross had wanted? she kept asking herself over and over again.

Ross had destroyed everything she's loved, the people she's believed in. He'd ripped out her heart from her chest and left her a soulless women without meaning.

The grip around the pocket knife, tightened.

As she kept walking she hoped for Ross or some other predator would appear from the darkness and blow off her head with a shotgun, or crush it with a crowbar.

There was nothing more she wanted than that.
