Event Horizon

This all started with project mercuary.
A movment to send a civilization beyond the rapidly resource depleteing milkyway galaxy. Humans were quickly settling the universe. Staking their claim, nations were united. Some were born, and some, were destroyed. It became clear that a singular untied galaxy spanning government was impossible. That is, until project mercuary was born. The singular goal, was to create chaos in the future. Unify the galaxy against a common threat, but a plan if this magnitude would take a long time to bear fruit. The heads of the Sol Federation went to work immediately,  alienating more rebelious, smaller nations, creating turmoil, poverty, and destruction until they offered them a chance. The chance to start again. Unannounced to these rebellious nations, the plan was for them to return, to become the common threat the galaxy needed to be united. They saw this as a new beginning, as freedom, as peace provided by distance to grow their differing ideas and culture. They accepted.

They packed up their poverty stricken worlds onto behemoth class colonization ships, outfitted with all they would ever need. Food, water, medicine, they were well stocked when they went through the wormhole. They even had a constant channel back to the milkyway, so when supplies ran out they could begin trade operations. Trade that would be monopolized and turnes against them until they again rebelled and decided to attack all the milkyway nations.

Only this life line of communication was sabotaged just after they crossed the even horizon. By a milkyway loyalist. He didnt want a galaxy spanning war. He didnt want plantery genocide. He didnt want to be part of a culling. So he betrayed his compatriots. Their rebelious army can never return home to ransack the galaxy, if they have no ability to find home.
