Duck was tiny, chubby, inspirational and a little clueless. But it was okay because everyone loved her just the way she was; a little bit stupid. She lived in a rice farm in Mongolia owned by Human 1, Human 2, and their three children, Human 3, Human 4 and Human 5, who was almost as small as her. Every day she would wake to Rooster's manly calls which were something she looked forward to every day. She was a little bit obsessed with Rooster, but sadly, Rooster didn't know that she existed, as she was only ever staring at him through the fence.

One day, Duck was chilling around the fence to get a glimpse of Rooster when she saw Human 1 come near. That's strange, she thought, Human 1 never comes to see us. She quacked three times for Human 1 to hear her, and he did, and as she waddled closer, she got an unsettling feeling in her stomach. She started to waddle backwards, but saw a terrifying sight which stopped her dead in her tracks.

Human 1 was forcing Rooster and the Hens out of their home. At first, she thought it was a dumb joke for the annoying Hens, but when Human 1 began to stuff them all, including handsome Rooster, into a contraption that he used to travel far distances, Duck knew that this was much more sinister than a prank.

"Help us, Duck!" Hen 3 squawked. But Duck could only waddle away in terror as Human 1 threw Hen 3 into the contraption and darted towards her. She quacked loudly, but her heart sank as her neck was clenched by Human 1's hands and was taken to the contraption, where she was thrown in mercilessly with the stinking Hens. She hit her head on the hard surface and felt a shock throughout her body. The Hens began to gossip at once, not giving a single look to Duck.

Rooster was so near, closer than she had ever been, but too late, darkness fell on little Duck and all she saw was black.

--------------------

Goose was a hearty fellow, she could usually be seen around in the barn in Maryland, flapping her wings fabulously as she honked down the barn. The barn was huge, but not many animals were there. There was herself, her husband Gander, her many children, Dog, Cat, Cow 1 and Cow 2. Sometimes it got lonely, but with her warm-hearted family, loneliness was easily overcome. Smart and motherly, Goose often felt like she owned the barn, but really, it was Farmer 1, Farmer 2 and their children Farmer 3 and Farmer 4 who took care of the place.

So when a machine similar to Farmer 1's contraption jerked into the backyard and a human exited, Goose didn't know how to react. At first, she thought it was one of Farmer 2's many friends, but was surprised when the human started to pull out animals out of his contraption. Alive animals. He grabbed their necks and threw them on the ground, leaving a couple to look around in confusion or even stay on the ground. Goose hadn't been madder her whole life. How dare the filthy human just treat the animals as if they were objects?

She strutted back into the barn and honked, "We've got some new friends coming!"

The news brought excited chatter among the animals. Cow 1 mooed, "Yeaaahhhhh thiiissss plllaaccceee wwwwwaaaasssss aaaaa littttlllllleeeee loooooneeelllyyyyy."

Meanwhile Cow 2 mooed, "Iiiiiiii hoooppppeeee tthhhheeeyyyyyy aaarrrreee niiiccceee."

Her children, the Goslings, were the most excited. Gosling 1 and Gosling 8 were discussing what they could play with these new animals, Gosling 3 was peering out the window, Gosling 15 was on the rood and the rest were crowding around Gander, who had been honking a story for the little ones to hear.

Goose honked merrily as the newcomers came into the barn group by group. There were Hens, which she recognised from the ones that were here in the barn before they died, a Rooster, quite a handsome young fellow, a young Duck, not unlike the ones in the nearby lake, and some animals she did not recognise. Many of them were friendly, some were shy, and Goose honked a welcome to every one of them.

When everything was settled,  Goose waddled over to the young Duck, who looked bewildered by the kerfuffle. "Hello, Duck. I'm Goose," Goose honked happily, flapping her wings. Not to worry, it's all good here, little Duck. Everyone's painfully nice and incredibly friendly. Not to mention fabulous."

"Hi Goose, I'm Duck!" Duck quacked, somewhat happily. Goose frowned a little because of the fact that Duck had just repeated what she had said in reverse order, but nonetheless, she honked in approval.

And that's how the inseparable friendship of Duck and Goose started.
