The neutrally hated country music was nearly drowned out by the clicking clocking pickup truck's engine. Looking at situation, it might look like something out of the Twilight saga. Her slowly dying and him trying everything to save her; she's a pathetic human and he's... Not; but you wouldn't say they're in love, per say. Her blood ran a deep plum from her mouth as her body weakened by the minute.
The side of his friend's face (that he always tried hiding from) was the only side to him she could see. He felt insecure whenever she saw it because he could tell it scared her yet she tried to get used to it. She tried looking at him like that for as long as she could before the cringing would settle in.
She forced herself to keep her eyes open as she barely muttered, "Tony..."
The creature - whose thighs housed the dying girl's head - shifted a bony hand over her head to keep her down. "Don't," the creature voiced motherly though it was a guy.
The wheels shrieked to a stop as the driver, half trilling face and all, bolted out the car before he actually stopped the car. The other guy handed the girl to him and they both (inhumanly fast) sped into the hospital. "I need a human," the other guy, Tony, yelled as his friend carried what he called 'his pet', dread-filled.
A doctor followed by two nurses directing a gurney rushed for the two but froze before they were close enough to see the girl. Both the creatures knew why; they'd broken the law. All three of them: two creatures carrying a human. The doctor exhaled ruefully as a matching expression surfaced on his face.
He made a hand gesture towards the nurses, who then backtracked away from them. "Please," the creature holding the girl pleaded. "We found her on the road," he lied. "She didn't do anything wro..."
"I'm sorry," the doctor voiced, clearly hurt by what he was bound by. "The law is the law." The doctor studied the damn near lifeless body before him. He looked around tensely as the security guards got closer to the two creatures. "G-16. Northwestern side," he whispered. "Ask for Kitten. Hurry!"
Kitten hated when the doctors sent her broken human toys. They're just not as fun because if you break them; you kill them. Creatures (or 'Chimeras', to be politically correct) were... Durable... Almost impenetrable. "Name," Kitten asked with a soft agitation.
"Genevieve," the friend called.
Kitten sighed as she raised an eyebrow at the two while Genevieve floated out of the one friend's grasp. "I meant yours," she gestured to the chimera who held her.
"Nikolai," he stated haphazardly as he watched Genevieve float away with nurses and a doctor. "This's a Chimera ward," he realized. "Why would this section help humans?"
Tony studied the visible Chimeras that were around, sensing that they weren't always so mundane. "How's that possible," he gestured to a little black girl with glowing orange eyes. "You can't make a Chimera."
Kitten strutted passed them with a smirk as Nikolai rushed after her. "No, we can't," she admitted with a scaly-like glow of skin caught in the light. "We can only awaken a Chimera ghost gene in them." The words shocked both boys stiff. "Assuming that there was at least one Chimera in their gene pool. You'll have to hope that your girlfriend's ancestors weren't as harsh as current humans are."
Nikolai was left by himself as Kitten entered a restricted section and his friend began tracking people. He sighed as he turned towards the hallway where Genevieve was taken. "She's not my girlfriend."
