Prologue

I am in a class of Ones.

Ashley; Female; Invisibility.

There are seventeen of us in total, all different in essence.

Becki; Female; Strength.

Most of us have been here from grade one, although there have been numerous add-ins throughout the years.

Blair; Male; Controls people's words.

There have been dropouts as well, people who wouldn't have been able to survive here.

Cody; Male; Melting (himself or objects).

When you get admitted into grade ten, you need to have figured out whether you have an Endowment or not.

Daniel; Male; Persuasion.

And if not?

Janelle; Female; Draw things into existence.

You have to leave.

From grade one to six, you're time is spent developing a high IQ.

Jennifer; Female; Controls people's emotions.

Then, if your IQ is over 150, you are admitted to grade seven.

Josiah; Male; Flying.

Next are the extracurricular years. You spend grades seven to nine attempting to find your Endowment.

Kerri; Female; Levitation.

If and when you find it, you get,

Liam; Male; Knows all.

A break.

Until grade ten.

Maddie; Female; Reads people's minds.

There you learn everything there is to know about your Endowment. From where it originated, to where it is today, you learn it all.

Makaila; Female; Shape shift.

I've finished grade ten.

Nadine; Female; Shoots fire or ice out of hands.

I'm moving up. Grade eleven, an unknown. Nobody knows what's coming, not even Liam.

Ryan; Male; Extremely fast

Some Ones come out heroes... some don't come out at all.

Therese; Female; Communicates with animals.

Some come out as none of the above.

Will; Male; Healing and/or regenerating limbs.

I am the seventeenth in succession.

I am different.

They don't know.

If they did, they'd want me dead.

I have to hide my secret.

I am in a class of Ones.

I am a Two.
