“Jack...? Is that you?”

The small-framed boy was pulled into a tight hug by the older woman as he stood in their porch, “It’s so lovely to see you again, darling.”

Jack couldn’t help but to smile broadly, the last time he stepped foot in this house was when Alex decided they were through, damn, it felt so good to be back.

Last week had been spent at his, with Alex visiting nearly every day, but today was different. Jack was going to surprise his boy.

“I missed you! How silly of me!” Isobel laughed, letting go of the younger boy.

“I missed you, too!” Jack replied cheerily, “I’m sorry for my disappearing act, but everything’s okay now.”

Alex’s mother nodded understandingly, “That’s quite alright, I’m just glad that you’re back.” And she sighed, “I’ve never seen Alex look so hurt since you left...” She admitted, causing Jack to shift his weight a little uncomfortably on the spot. “However, for the past couple of days, I’ve never seen such a bright smile on his face. That boy could light up the town.” She chuckled, Jack giggling shyly.

“I’m here for good now, though. That’s if you don’t mind me being here?”

“Oh, nonsense! It’s lovely having two boys in the house again.” And her smile was sad, but her eyes twinkled. “Let me put the kettle on, I’ll make us all a nice cup of tea, how does that sound?”

“Absolutely perfect.” Jack answered, reaching out to hug the woman once more, before heading for the stairs.

He guessed Alex was in his room, I mean, it wasn’t because the blaring sound of New Found Glory was a big enough give away.

Jack had been a little worried though, if he were to be honest. This morning when he sent Alex a text to say he’d come home from Oli’s, the boy didn’t respond. He assumed he didn’t have credit, but he could have sworn the male was on a contract of unlimited texts.

Had he done something wrong?

At least as he pushed opened Alex’s graffiti covered door, he was about to find out.

“Surprise.”

That was the best Jack could do as he padded towards the boy who was lying with his laptop on his chest, head against his pillow, and- wait, was he asleep?

The American teenager rolled his eyes, typical Alex.

Clambering onto the mattress, Jack squeezed himself into the small gap between Alex’s body and the wall. With his arms tucked into his chest, Jack buried his face into the sleeping boy’s shoulder; his mouth slightly open as he began to graze his teeth against the strap of Alex’s black ribbed tank top. “I think I need to give him fashion advice. Sweatpants and tank tops are not stylish.”

Slowly, Jack brushed his mouth against the bare skin of Alex’s shoulder, before gently sucking and nibbling at the flesh.

Alex stirred as he felt something against his skin. His eyes fluttered open, a tired groan escaping his lips. He was quite enjoying his afternoon nap; he hadn’t slept like that since he was in nursery at lower school.

Turning to see who the fuck had woke him, he frowned to see Jack’s dark hair hiding the boy’s face.

“Oh, it’s you.” He muttered, some what coldly.

Jack lifted his head, confused if anything. “Have you woke up on the wrong side of the bed or...?”

Alex pushed the boy away from his shoulder, before turning off his music, closing his laptop and placing it onto the floor. His stomach was beginning to burn from the object overheating. “I’m perfectly fine.” He snapped, though showing that it was far from the truth.
