A throbbing head was enough to wake Jack from his slumber.
Reaching an arm behind, fingertips hoped to brush against familiar skin, yet instead were welcomed by cold sheets.
Confused, Jack rubbed the sleep from his eyes, sitting himself up straight.
Where was Alex?
It was rare for Jack to be awake and not find the older male’s blonde hair splayed across the pillow, hiding Alex’s stunning features.
Yawning, the teenager stretched his arms above his head, before placing his hands in his lap. His eyes were squinted as they tried to adjust to the morning, and he was trying painfully hard to ignore the headache brewing.
Jack was tempted to fall back onto that pillow and close his eyes, but the sound of clinking glass coming up the stairs distracted him.
Rubbing his forehead with his palm, Jack was surprised to see Alex’s door kicked open, and the older male carefully stumbling in holding what appeared to be a tray with bits and bobs on it.
“Oh, so you’re finally awake then, sleepyhead?” Alex teased, as he set the tray onto his bedside table.
“Mmhmm...” Jack answered, a thick eyebrow raised, “What’s all this?” He asked.
Handing over a glass of orange juice and two tablets, Alex smiled, “Your hangover cure.”
Placing the paracetamol on his tongue, Jack washed them down with half of the drink. “Thank you, darling.” He said gratefully, before patting the space in the bed next to him. “Come snuggle with me?”
Alex didn’t really need to be asked.
“How did you know I’d have a hangover?” Jack asked, as he settled against Alex’s bare chest.
“Uh...” The other male paused, “Just because.” He decided to answer.
Alex wasn’t too sure what Jack could remember from last night, did the boy even know he’d taken drugs? That was the real reason why he knew his baby would feel rough this morning, especially since he had been throwing up, too.
“Oh...” Jack mumbled, his fingers idly drawing patterns on his boyfriend’s arm which was wrapped around his stomach.
Taking in a breath, Alex knew it would be better if he just got this question out of the way. Tension was killing him.
“Hey... Jack?” He began, “D-do you remember what happened last night?”
The younger boy thought for a moment, his eyes closed to try and help him piece things together. Eventually he said, “I think so?” His voice was quiet, which was enough to tell Alex that thankfully, Jack was well aware of his actions the night before.
“So, the whole Oli situation? You can remember it?”
Jack shrugged, “Vaguely...” He lied, when in fact, that was possibly the only part of the night that was crystal clear.
And the thing that stuck in his mind most, was the horrified look upon Alex’s face when he was caught. The American doubted he’d ever forget that.
“Jack...” Alex started, his nose gently brushing against the tip of the boy’s ear, “Why did you do it, baby?”
The younger boy shifted his weight onto the older boy, turning onto his side. Resting his head in Alex’s neck, a muffled groan escaped, “Don’t wanna talk ‘bout it...”
Rolling his eyes, Alex sighed deeply, he didn’t think Jack would be co-operative with him. “Fine, be like that.” He muttered sharply, his hand pushing Jack’s head away from his torso. “You can’t touch me until you tell me.” He stated, hoping that his little deal would win the boy over. It was a mean thing to do, but Alex needed some answers.
