Task Five: It Takes Two

0 0 0

It takes one
To begin, but then once
You've begun,
It takes two of you.
It's no fun,
But what needs to be done
You can do.

For the first time, the  tribute does not look to the sky when the anthem rings. Instead they  look around the room, only to spot faces being drawn out of thin air  onto a chalkboard of sorts. The realism of these images, however, is  almost more horrifying than their unexplained appearance on the wall.

Eoghan Monteligneau, Vixen Faulkner, Chloe Hopkins, Aesop Detona.

As the last face begins  to appear, the tribute toys with their weapon, which they can't remember  being there beforehand. Now, however, something seems to move behind  them, and one quick peak makes it beyond clear that there is another  tribute in the room, just as armed as they are.

The tribute - or perhaps  the one in the bed - runs to the door, desperately trying to knock it  down, but to no avail. A series of words appears on the wood, glistening  gold against cedar.

Show me your strength.

THE TASK:

- Many apologies to  those of you who hate writing action, because this is very much a battle  task! You have been assigned a partner below and must, by the end of  the entry, kill them. Only then will the door open. Characterization is a  key element in this task - that is all I will say.

- KILLS:  With the exception of your partner (which will not count for rankings),  there will be no entry deaths. However, three ballots (four for seeded  players) are to be sent after your entry. Half of you (yes, half) will  be put up for votes, with four dying.

- WORD LIMIT: 1,250 words.

- DUE DATE: Friday, July 3rd at 10 PM BST.
