life is fragile as a feather.
many don't know the delicacy of it until they're faced with something that could take it away from them.
the chill of a knife, a finger on the trigger, the cough of illness, the airbags of a car.
jimin grew reckless when jeongguk left him. the pain instilling a fire and ache in his bones. the lust for death as strong as the will to live.
he spent many a night drunkenly riding his motorcycle after jeongguk left. he stayed on quiet roads, just enjoying the boiling in his veins and the gambling with death.
he never got caught. the thrill of the possibilities brought him back to the same habit every weekend. he rarely considered the true consequences. jail, addiction, death. they were at the back of jimin's mind. he only cared for finding a part of himself jeongguk had oppressed.
he yearned for a home in a feeling rather than a person he already lost.
one gloomy friday night jimin's world shifts.
he was brave enough or rather dumb enough to find himself on the interstate. he was seeing how much he could take, what limits could be pushed in himself and in authority. it was exhilarating to feel so free. the wind flowing wildly through his bright pink locks and causing his leather jacket to slap against his back.
for once jeongguk was nowhere to be found in his mind. for the first time in an entire year.
that's when the rain hit. it fell hard on jimin's cheeks mixing with his vodka cranberry induced tears. his vision was blurry before, but it was practically gone now.
he missed the warning signs for the construction zone.
he missed the speed limit change.
in a brief moment of sobriety jimin feels a jolt up his spine at red headlights merging closer. he reaches up to wipe the tears from his eyes in panic.
the world stills.
jimin's eyes widen before snapping shut, knowing no bout of braking could save him.
memories flood his mind. many of them involving crinkly eyes and a blinding smile.
the impact hits and jimin is gone.
he's sent flying from his motorcycle over the guard rails of the interstate. bouncing inhumanly off concrete all the way down into the depths of cold grass and rugged stones.
