Shadow Rings

Chapter 8

"No. It is not weird at all." Zeus replied to me after what seems like forever. We have been walking for awhile and I thought I wouldn't get an answer.

I gave him a look over my shoulder since he was walking behind me and Zander was walking in front of me. It almost felt like they were protecting me from something but that is just crazy. Just like this situation I am in. "What do you mean no? Isn't it against the law to have any sort of relationship with a student? I mean other than a student and teacher relationship that is."

"Yes...and no.." Zander started, but then paused to climb over a tree trunk that was in the path. "Yes, it is against the law in a way. But we won't get in trouble as long as we don't get caught. We are very good at hiding things. Especially from other people." Winking at me as he helped me over the trunk.

"What do you mean we? Like as in all three of us?" I looked at both of them like they were the crazy ones. Let alone that I was probably the crazy one to go along with this. Not only that but to like not one but both brothers who are not only older than me but also my teachers!! I must be more insane than I thought I was.

"Yuppers. You, Zeus and me of course." Pointing at each of us in turn as he was talking. "I know it might seem weird right now. But we won't rush you darling. We are patient people. Have you ever thought that there are things in this world that don't seem right? Or that there is a glaze over the truth? Things aren't what they seem to be..... and neither are you.."

"Zander!! Not right now. It is too soon. I don't care if you think she is ready. I don't think so. We need to do this one thing at a time." Zeus glared at Zander. This just seemed to confuse me even more. Without another word I started walking back the way we came. Not caring if they followed or not. I just wanted to be alone with my thoughts.

"Mich, wait up." Zander was catching up to me, trying to get my attention. "Please just listen."

"No, I am sorry but not right now. I have too many thoughts in my head at the moment I cant process this too. Its too much. Plus I have too much weird shit that has been going on too that I need to figure out." Giving him a look, I continued back to the jeep waiting for them to unlock it so I can get in. With a sigh, they did and packed the stuff into the back, while I got in the backseat. The whole way back was complete silence. When we got back to the block away from my house, I finally broke the silence. "Thank you guys for taking me out today. This isn't how I wanted this day to end. I just need some time."

"We can accept that." Zeus said, Zander nodded agreeing. "Like we said we are patient people. Do one thing for us though." I gave him a look for him to continue. "Go to the attic. I know you probably don't like them but....go up there and look for a ring. You will know what it looks like when you see it. You'll just know. If you need help just give us a call and we will be right over."

"Um..okay?" I nodded and got out waving at them as I walked away.
