Losing faith seems like a terrible thing, a sign of weakness but it wasn't my choice. For 8 years I've watched the others males that are around my age in this pack find their mates, 8 fucking years of teasing and mockery because I was different.
"you still haven't found your mate, you little four-eyed freak"
"How can a mate-less nerd be a alpha?"
I duck my head and continue to walk down the long narrow hallway to my office, staying on the left side, whilst trying to ignore the assholes of the pack. I know I was being a coward and I should stick up for myself but it is hard when you don't have someone to help and support you. The only pack member that I can have a proper conversation is with is my beta Mickey, he is the best fighter in the pack and is a great leader. Mickey stands at 6'4 and towers over many people of his muscles that make most of his clothing stretch at the seams. Mickey has a habit of folding his tattooed arms to make his muscles bulge when he is conversations so that the other person know who they are talking as it makes him look rather intimidating, his ravenous black hair slicks back to the nape of his neck, though on some it may seem too professional on others, on him it looked just right.
Then there is me, the weak alpha. I'm very short compared to other Alpha, I am probably the same height as most of the unranked wolves of packs. however, in the human world, I have an average height of 5'10. I have some muscles and a slight six pack, which is obviously smaller than most of the males in the pack. My shaggy brown hair falls in a raggedy mess, concealing my piercing blue eyes, I have dimples on both of my cheeks which are only noticeable when I smile.
Closing the door behind me, I took a deep breath trying to calm down my hidden rage for the idiots of my pack. I looked around the room and sighed, the office is exactly the same as when my dad was Alpha. I didn't have the heart to change the room since he always talked about the amazing decisions that were made inside these walls. The walls were a deep red with pictures hanging from every wall. most of the pictures were of my family but some were of paintings received from neighboring packs. A brown chair was placed in the center of the room, tucked underneath a mahogany table. the table had piles of files that had been untouched for a week. a chandelier hung directly above cause crystalized shapes to appear on the walls. One wall on the right-hand side of the room contained multiple shelves that held stories of the pack's ancestors that I have read a few times remembering the facts off by heart.
Pushing my glasses further up my nose I walk to my desk and take a seat. I began to sort through all of the work that needed to be completed by the next day and I knew that there would be a long night ahead. I thought of asking my beta for help but I didn't trust anyone, they could turn their backs on me at any moment and I had to be prepared. I began to read one of the most urgent files but I couldn't concentrate so I began to let my mind wander.
Why couldn't I have a mate, a beautiful girl with long hair that cascaded down her back, full red lips, and rosy cheeks. I would like her to be quite short, well at least shorter than me so that I could look down at her, watching her light up my entire world. she would be amazing whether she looked like that or completely different. she would be a great luna and love me for who I was rather than who the "alpha" was meant to be. That would be perfect, people may even respect me because I wouldn't be so different. who am I kidding, I'll always be treated the same. I knew I was different from a young age, whilst most liked to play sports. I liked to sit in my room and read books. books allowed me to venture into another world and to experience things that only happened in my wildest dreams. a knock on the door disturbed my wayward thoughts.
"come on in" I yelled
The door opened revealing Mickey, his body barely fitting through the door. He wore a black suit with his tie hanging loosely around his neck having just finished his human job in town. he shut the door and leaned against it whilst giving me a lopsided grin that looked strange since most of the time his face was void of emotion.
