After the play was finished we decided to look around. Greece really is quite lovely, especially where we are right now. The architecture, the food;amazing. We eventually came to a cluster of shops; stalls. They sold a variety of things, and we spent a great deal of time there. However it came to my attention that one of the building's doors had been left open. It was hot, but surely one would not leave their door open in this mass of people. Someone might come in and steal something. So I went up to close the door and noticed a symbol carved into the nob. It looked like a rune, but it couldn't be, Greeks don't use runes. It was a circle, with an opening at the bottom and the sides of the opening continuing into small lines. It looked familiar, and yet I didn't recognise it. It was faint though, perhaps faded over years, or even deliberately faint to hide something. It was a stupid idea, but then many things were complicated with the Doctor. I had felt as though it was a sign, a sign to anyone looking that this was "the place", whatever that meant, and not noticeable enough to be seen by anyone else.
"Brooklyn?" The Doctor called.
"Coming!" I called back.
And really, I was. But then I heard voices.
"It is time." One said.
This voice was deep and manly.
"So be it. Gather the Coven."
This voice was also a man's, but higher-pitched.
'The coven.' I thought.
'Like a coven of witches?'
This was what kept me, and what compelled me to listen.
"When shall I tell them to come Sir?" The first voice said.
"By the light of the next day. They will need time to prepare, but when the night falls on the second day, we will be ready. The ritual can begin."
This didn't sound good. It almost sounded like they were planning something...something sinister. So I did what any rational person would do. I went to the Doctor.
"Ah, Brooklyn, there you are. I was hoping you'd be back soon. I just wanted to say one last time, thank you. You helped a lot. Now, are you ready to leave or is there something else you want to see? Acropolis perhaps?"
"No- listen, Doctor I overheard this conversation and-"
"Alright I'll take you to Acropolis. You know I've heard it's really nice this time of year."
"No Doctor listen!"
I suddenly realise that we're still in the marketplace, and what I'm about to say will not go down well. So I drag him out and next to an old well.
"Doctor, I appreciate everything you've done for me today but I don't think this is as a happy place as it seems."
"What do you mean?" He asks.
I sigh, frustrated.
" I mean that I overheard a particular conversation. These two men, or I assume they're men, were talking about a coven, and a ritual. It sounded suspicious and I just..."
I stopped. The Doctor was looking at me, but not how you would if you were just told that there could be some evil stuff going on just around the corner. He looked at me like...
"You knew."
He looked partly embarrassed.
"You knew about this "coven", didn't you?"
"Brooklyn I-"
"No. I can't believe I thought you wanted to be nice. I should have known that you were investigating."
