Chapter 18

Perfect. That's the only way I could describe Normani and mine date. It was simple and cute but still enjoyable. Soon as I came back to work the next day Yara and Ally bombarded me with questions about how our night went. Some not quite PG. you could see the disappointment on their faces when I told them nothing R rated happened. It was only the first date, what type of girl did they take me for?

I was excited for work today, more so than usual. Today I would be getting my first paycheck. Well not an actual check but I would be getting paid. It wouldn't be enough for me to get a motel but it would be enough so I wouldn't have to beg anymore and I could save at least half of it.

I had a few things in mind that I wanted to purchase out of the half that I would be spending. Algee was now done with all his finals so I was going to go visit him at work since he was now back full time. I didn't have to work until twelve so I could visit for at least an hour to catch up.

With my backpack secured on my back, and me already decked out in my work uniform I made the short trip to the store where Algee worked. When I walked into the store instead of The brown haired boy being behind the glass box he was in the main area of the store seemingly stocking the shelves with various snack items.

Algee turned around to see who had entered the store before a big smile overtook his face. He opened his arms to me which I responded to by embracing my first friend. Algee and I hugged for up to a minute before pulling away with a huge grin gracing both of our faces. 

'Dinah Jane I missed you mamas.' Algee broke the silence first.

'It's okay I know you've been busy with finals how did you do on them by the way?' I asked while I picked up a malt and vanilla granola bar from the shelf he was stocking.

'I passed all of them thank god, some of them with C's but all that matters is that ya boy is gonna graduate.' The short boy cheered.

I smiled for him happily 'so when do you finally graduate?'

'June ninth, it's feels so far away but I know after prom it's gonna go by pretty fast.' He said before moving back behind the glass box.

Algee held the door leading to the back room open for me 'You coming back?'

'No I actually have to get to work pretty soon. I just came by to see how you've been doing lately.'

'Well I'm super proud of you but on one of your off days we're gonna have to go do something. We rarely hang out anymore.' He pouted.

'Don't worry we'll definitely hang out.' I assured

'How have you and Normani been?' He smirked.

I narrowed my eyes 'What do you mean "been"?'

'Like did you tell her you like her? Any dates coming up? Or have you guys been on one already?!'

I chuckled at his excitement 'yes we've been on a date and it's been going fairly well but I'm just worried.'

'What are you worried about?' He asked clicking a few buttons on the register.

'I'm worried that she's gonna find out about, you know what and she's not gonna wanna see me anymore.' I revealed sadly.

'Dinah I don't know Normani that well personally but I honestly don't think she's the type to do that to you, or anybody. If you guys went on a date that means she likes you so I honestly think if she finds out about your secret she won't care, but I also think that you should tell her.'

Is he out of his damn mind? I can't tell Normani that I'm homeless. She won't want to see me anymore, she won't want to be friends and damn sure not anything more.
