George was alone, not a feeling he felt very often with the new set up. He didn't know what to do or think, he had nobody to talk to. Alex had just gone out to get some groceries, and had been taking more time than usual. As minutes turned into hours without hearing from alex, George decided to call him.
"hello?" Alex said, confused by the call.
George sighed in relief and responded.
"Thank god. I thought something happened to you. Car Crash, kidnapped, you got lost, maybe got killed—"
Alex cut him off and told him to stop worrying, and hung up. Although George knew something was up by the tone of Alex's voice, he let it be and continued to watch the television until Alex got home. George threw on his own merchandise sweatshirt and a pair of comfy shorts, before lying down.
"Squeeeeekkkkk" the door opened slowly.
Alex was home...finally. George excitedly jumped up and slid over to him, but was confused by what he saw. Alex was holding a blanket, wrapped in a ball. Suddenly, the ball moved and out jumped..a puppy. The little thing flew into George's arms and he couldn't help but to smile. Alex had gotten a dachshund, a white and brown, adorable, small dachshund.
"it's a fucking wiener dog!" George said, in a tone that Alex couldn't understand.
"Are you mad at me George..?" Alex wanted to make sure him taking this pup home was good idea.
"Mad?! Are you kidding, I love.." George flipped the pup over to see what gender the dog was.
"Yes, I love HIM, where did you find this cutie?" George asked curiously.
"Found him on the side of the road, he was a bit beat up so I brought him to see a groomer. That's why it took so long." Alex grabbed the dog from George's hands as they debated what to name it.
"Hercules!" Alex offered, jokingly.
"Stupid. I love it." George laughed and they agreed on the name.
George and Alex took care, and played with Hercules all night. The couch ended up being where they ended their night. Herc, Alex and George all snuggled up with each other under a warm, wool blanket and fell asleep.
"I love you Alex, thank you." George said softly, careful not to wake up the pup.
"No problem mate. I love you too.."
They then drifted to sleep, dreaming of each other and what tomorrow would bring them. But, little did they know, tomorrow would NOT be as good as today.
