Silverkit nuzzled up to Leopardfoot. She was almost 3 moons old and she was getting more restless to leave the queens den. It was cold outside due to it being leafbare. It was boring, staying in the den all day with Leopardfoot, Tigerkit, and Willowpelt. She had not been born in Thunderclan, however.
Her mother was a kittypet who left her to die out in the woods. Pinestar had found her out on a patrol and couldn't leave her to die. He thought Leopardfoot would appreciate the kit, since she had previously lost two kits. Leopardfoot, however hard she tried, she couldn't accept her as her own kit. She had decided to nurse her, but would not accept her as her kit. Since no other cats wanted to be close with her, her closest friend was Tigerkit.
Speaking of which, they haven't played in a while. Silverkit pounces on Tigerkit, who just rolls over.
"Stop, Silverkit. It's cold." As he rolls back over he knocks over Silverkit. Silverkit huffed and walked over to Leopardfoot and woke her up.
"Leopardfoot....Tigerkit won't play with me." She whined as she pressed on Leopardfoot's face. Leopardfoot laughs and pushes Silverkit off.
"It's cold. He wants to sleep, Silverkit. Why don't we all go to sleep and then when we're well rested, we'll go outside to play?" Silverkit nodded and nuzzled her face against Leopardfoot's and went to go sleep by Tigerkit. She lays next to Tigerkit and Tigerkit instinctively puts his head on Silverkit's belly.
They woke up at sunhigh and Silverkit was even more excited then she was when she fell asleep. As they ran outside Silverkit saw Thistlepaw and Lionpaw adding to the freshkill pile. There was a light snow on the ground and Silverkit absolutely hated it. It was cold under her paws and she was very cold.
Tigerkit on the other hand. He loved it. He awkwardly started walking around in it, having to lift his paws a lot higher than usual. Regardless of her personal feelings toward it, she wasn't gonna let Tigerkit show her up.
She walked out towards the freshkill pile where Tigerkit was. Leopardfoot called them both back and they came.
"This is snow" She tossed some at them. "It comes during leafbare and is the reason why prey is scarce." Tigerkit fluffed up his pelt.
'Why does starclan wish it to come then? If it does not do anything for us?" Leopardfoot but her paw on Tigerkit's head.
"Because. If Leafbare does not come then the prey will not be as plump as it is in newleaf." Tigerkit calmed down and shook his mother's paw off of him. Silverkit looked at both of them and felt a longing feeling in her belly. She did not know her mother, but she really wanted to have someone as close to her as that.
Tigerkit turned over to her as she was spaced out and used this as an opportunity to sneak attack her. He pounced on her and rolled her over until she was on her back and he was on top of her. She clawed at his belly with sheathed paws and was able to push him off of her.
"No fair! I wasn't paying attention!"
"Exactly!" Pinestar says as he walks up.
"He caught you off guard. If this were a real battle, you'd be dead." Silverkit huffed and walked away. As she was walking, she saw a beautiful tortoiseshell she cat going into the medicine cat den.
"Spottedpaw, can you check the yarrow for me?" Silverkit walked into the den and looked around at all of the herbs that there was.
"Do we have an escaped kit?" Featherwhisker said as he walked in front of her. Stopping her from touching things.
"What is this?" Silverkit asked as she pointed to the burdock root.
"That's burdock root. We use it to treat rat bites." She walked along the den staring in amazement at all of the herbs and berries.
"Why do you have all of this?" She asked looking up at him.
"I'm the medicine cat, I make sure that every cat isn't sick or hurt for very long. Everything in here is used to heal sick and wounded cats." Silverkit looked around.
"Can I be a medicine cat?" Featherwhisker laughed and looked down at her.
"Don't you want to be a warrior? Fighting and protecting your clan?" Silverkit looked down. "Well, if they get hurt, won't they need a medicine cat to protect them until they get better?" Featherwhisker nodded at the kit, amused at her curiosity.
"Yes, I suppose so. But I'm afraid I already have an apprentice, and you're not old enough." Silverkit looked down. "Alright.." She pouted.
"Well, why don't we make a deal? When you turn 6 moons old, train as a warrior for a while. If you don't like it, you may ask Pinestar if you can be a medicine cat apprentice for Spottedpaw." Silverkit pricked up her ears and smiled.
"Really?" Featherwhisker nodded and Silverkit ran out of the den towards the Queens den. "Tigerkit. Tigerkit!" She ran up to her friend and jumped on him.
"Featherwhisker said I could be a medicine cat when I'm an apprentice!" Tigerkit got up and jumped on Silverkit.
"Really? That's great!" They play fought for a little bit and Leopardfoot called them inside.
"So, if I get hurt when I'm a warrior, you'll be able to heal me?" Tigerkit asked Silverkit.
"Even if I'm not a medicine cat by then, I'll try my best." Tigerkit and Silverkit ate and slept. They always slept in the same familiar position. Tigerkit's head on Silverkit's belly while they're laying next to each other.
