Chapter 1

"Here we are!" Said Kaito.

"Wow, this place is great!" You say cheerfully.

You and your fiancee were taking a vacation in a little village not far from where you lived. You and Kaito wanted a break so you decided to come to the village. You and Kaito came to a small inn and you two rented the best room. You walked around the inn and noticed something strange. All the employees were men. And when they saw you, they had a sad look in their eyes, like they lost something near and dear to them. You continued to go around the inn and there were still more men. Even outside the inn. All men! "Something's not right." You thought.

You came to Kaito and said, "Something's weird around here."

"I noticed too." Said Kaito.

"Most of the people here are men, and every time they look at me, they get a sad look in their eyes like they lost something near and dear to them." You said.

"The men do look very sad." Said Kaito.

[Time skip]

You came to a man who was looking at you earlier and you said, "Excuse me, why do you look so sad?"

The man looked more saddened by your presence. "My...wife left me. Without a sign."

"That's terrible!" You say.

"I come home one day, and she's gone without a sign." The man said.

"I'm sorry to hear that." You said.

You went around the inn and asked many men why they looked sad. It was the same answer every time. Their wives left them. Some even said that their daughters left too. That was when it hit you. You found Kaito and you say, "I may know what's going on here!" You said.

"I may know too!" Said Kaito.

"I noticed there are no women here!" You said.

"Where could they have all went? Will you be next?!" Gasped Kaito.

"I'm gonna find out why all the women left." You said. "But we should get some rest though. It's pretty late."

"You're right (y/n)." Said Kaito.

[In your room]

You and Kaito were getting ready for bed. Your bed was big enough for the two of you. You put on a (f/c) colored nightgown and took out your contact holder (A/n: I don't know what it's called.) and started to remove one of your contacts. You took your right one out, but you saw something strange once you took it out. Purple mist. You were entranced by the color, but then you snapped out of it. "Kaito!" You cried out, "Get in here! Quick!"

Kaito rushed out of the bathroom and he saw you frozen in place. "What is it (y/n)?" He asked.

"Do you see that?" You ask Kaito.

"See what?" Asked Kaito.

"Purple mist!" You said. "Yet the other part is cut off."

Kaito saw you removed your right contact, and he put his hand over your right eye. "Do you see it now?" Asked Kaito.

The mist was gone. "No." You said.

Kaito removed his hand from your eye and said, "How about now?"

"Yes." You said seeing the mist.

"Put your contact back in." Commanded Kaito.

You put your contact back in your eye, and the mist was gone. "It's not there. Let me take out my other contact." You said.

You removed your left contact, and the other half of the mist was there. "I see it!" You said.

"Put your other contact back in!" Ordered Kaito.

You put your other contact in, and your vision was clear. "You can't see it?" You said.

"No." Said Kaito.

"Only women can see...that's it!" You said.

"What?" Asked Kaito.

"The women must have been entranced by that mist!" You said.

"Yet you're a little bit resistant!" Said Kaito, "But how?"

It puzzled you for a second, until it hit you. "My contacts!" You gasp, "They must be protecting me from the affects of the mist! So the other women must not have worn glasses or contacts!"

"So you need to keep your contacts in!" Said Kaito.

"I'm going to see where that mist leads!" You said.

"Oh, no you're not!" Said Kaito sharply. "You might be gone forever if you follow that mist. I'm not letting anything bad happen to you too!"

"But my contacts will protect me, and I can take one out for half a second to see where that mist leads!" You said.

"Something bad may happen to your contacts and you could die once you follow that mist!" Kaito said angrily at you.

"I may be the only hope left. If men can't see it, and I'm the only one protected, I may be able to find out what's going on! I have to do this!" You protested.

"I don't know about this." Said Kaito.

"Trust me. You've trusted me for three years now. Can you still trust me?" You said.

Kaito sighed. He trusted you since the day you two met. Can he still trust you. "Just bring your contact case, and plenty of contact solution." He sighed.

You put on your normal clothes again, and you packed for contact case, contact solution, and hid a knife in your sock. You were about to leave, but you turned to Kaito and said, "If I don't return in a week, come find me. Just try to follow women inconspicuously. Don't follow me."

Kaito nodded and he gave you a final kiss. "Good luck (y/n)." Said Kaito.

You walked out the door, leaving a worried Kaito behind you. "I may have to bend the rules (y/n)." Said Kaito.
