Rachel wasn't dead, but she wasn't exactly alive either. Mikey's eyes burned a bright shade of red as he stared down at Rachel's lifeless body, his hand latched onto hers. She looked peaceful lying there in the hospital bed, the most peaceful she'd ever looked. She had no worry or pain on her face, just peace. Her breathing was calm, but that was due to the life support she was on. She'd been in a coma for a month now, and for a month Mikey had been living in the hospital. He'd go home every other day to shower and change clothes, but other than that he was glued to the seat right next to her bed. He'd talk to her like she could hear him, he'd even put her favorite movies in and pray she'd wake up; she never did. Amanda had been thrown in jail, no questions asked. Mikey and Deborah had both spoke as witnesses, and neighbors began to speak up about past accidents. That part had angered Mikey the most; people had known what was going on, but still let it happen.

Mikey's eyes slowly fell as midnight took over the hospital room. Even once visiting hours ended, he would refuse to leave, which wasn't really ever much of a problem considering who he was. His mind was now surrounded with darkness as he slipped into a state of unconsciousness, his eyes slowly rested on Rachel as she stood out in the darkness. She was sitting in the middle of all the black, a small light illuminating her tired face. He knew he was dreaming, but that was enough for him. He rushed over to her, but as soon as he threw his arms around her she was gone.

"Mikey..." Her small voice spoke up as he fell down to the ground where she had just been. His head snapped up and met with her now dull brown eyes.

"Rachel..." He choked out, still on his knees as he looked at her standing body. A weary smile made its way onto her lips; they still looked perfect.

"You'll be okay without me, you know that, right?" Her voice was soft, echoing around the room as her shadow casted around the darkness, towering over him.

"I won't be okay without you," he sobbed quietly, coughing away the lump in his throat, "I don't want to be okay without you. I want to be able to see you every day, and not in that damn hospital bed," he said, referring to the scene that was now playing out in front of the two of him asleep in the room, his head resting on the side of his bed next to him and Rachel's connected hands. Rachel's eyes glazed over as she looked down.

"You know," she spoke up after a moment, her eyes turning back to Mikey's; they were filled with pain, "I'd give anything to feel alive again, and to see your face in person, but I can't," a small glass like pearl slid down her cheek as Mikey quietly stared at her, "I have no say in this," she whispered, "I can't fight anymore. I'm tired of fighting, and my body won't let me fight. That's all I've ever done; fight. My body is giving up," Mikey stood up suddenly and planted himself right in front of her.

"What do you mean you have no say?" He snapped, tears slowly sliding down his cheeks, "It's your life Rachel, and of course you have a fucking choice!" He couldn't believe he was fighting with Rachel in a dream, he knew it was a dream, but for some reason something in the back of his mind told him it was much more than just a dream.

"But I don't," she swallowed softly, reaching her hand out and placing it on his cheek. He stared at her, watching the emotions that were playing out in her eyes. He was seeing her life through her deep brown eyes, and everything she'd gone through.

"Please don't leave..." He breathed, closing his eyes as he leaned his cheek into her hand.

"I'm sorry..." she whispered as she placed her lips on his.

Mikey's eyes snapped open and his grip tightened on Rache's hand; he took a deep breath after he realized it was just a dream. As his eyes slowly went to close once more, the sound of Rachel's heart flat lining filled the room. Mikey's eyes widened as he started to shake her.

"RACHEL!" He screamed, gripping her shoulders, "NO NO NO NO NO, YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME!" He sobbed as the doctors began rushing into the room, prying him off of her body and shoving him out of the room. Rachel's voice echoed through his mind as he stared blankly into the room, "I'm sorry."
