The Arranged Married

Chapter 4

08.05 PM, at Smart Convenience Store, Batam.

Rose is looking for some snacks and beers that Vanessa asked her to buy after Vanessa woke up. Before that, Rose takes some microwavable food; Chicken Spaghetti, Pizza, and Mac & Cheese. She puts some cans of beer and some bags of potato chips to her shopping basket. She brings her basket to the cashier but suddenly she stops walking. There is a man in front of her who blocking the way to the cashier.

"Excuse me.", Rose says while trying to pass.

The man looks at her and moves to let Rose passes him.

"Thanks."

"Hey, potato chips.", The man calls Rose.

The man's voice is quite familiar, and it makes Rose turns back to look who the man is. "Are you calling me?"

"Yeah! Don't you remember me?"

"Hmmm... Oh, You're the weird guy."

"Weird guy, huh? Do you live here?", The Man approaches Rose.

"Obviously not. The only person who can live here is the cashier of this store.", Rose answers. "Do you?"

The man laughs before he says, "You're funny. You know what I mean."

"I do. But I don't give such information to someone that I don't know. So, if you don't mind, I will go the cashier now and we just mind our own businesses here, okay?", Rose says while walking to the cashier.

"Sean."

Rose turns to the man while waiting the cashier counts her shopping items. "What?"

"My name is Sean. It's nice to see you again.", Sean says with his charming smile. "I live in that apartment, Martin Sun, 8th floor."

Rose pays the exact amount to the cashier then walking out from the store. "Whatever."

"Is that your name?"

Actually, Rose still can hear the question from Sean while she is walking out from the store, but she chooses to not response him. She also realizes that Sean looks different than the first time they met at the airport convenience store. He was old fashioned but now he has better fashion style with his long sleeve shirt and long black pants. Doesn't he look just as normal as the others office employees? Oh, his hair also becomes shorter and more stylish than that time. That is why Rose couldn't recognize him before.

"I met that weird guy again.", Rose says to Vanessa after she puts the food and beers on the dining table.

"Who?", Vanessa asks while approaching Rose.

"The weird guy from the airport convenience store. He lives here, in the same building with us.", Rose opens two bottles of the beer and passes one bottle to Vanessa. "Here you go."

Vanessa has a sip of it and says, "Did you see him just now in lobby?"

"Nope. We met at the Smart Convenience Store and he greeted me first. To be honest, I didn't even recognize him. He really looks more different now than last time.", Rose says while going to kitchen, then she prepares the microwavable food for their dinner by using the microwave in the kitchen.

"Oh, I see."

"By the way, did he contact you?"

"Who?"

"Dave, of course. Who else?"

Vanessa is only quiet. Then Rose comes out from the kitchen.

"We know that you both love each other. There must be a better way out for both of you. You don't deserve this, Nessa. You know that."

"The last time when we talked was this morning before I left the hotel, he said that he couldn't against what his family had decided. Because he is the youngest son in that family, he has to listen and follow their rules."

Rose sighs and says, "What an immature guy. What is he? He is not an 18 years old guy. He is closer to 35 and he still follows those unreasonable rules from his family. Nowadays, people should consider more the personality of someone, they shouldn't judge from their family background! Nobody wants and neither one of people in this world deserves to be treated like that!"

Vanessa surprises by Rose reactions. "It's okay, Rose. Maybe he will call me tomorrow."

"He better does that. If he doesn't, I'll go to his office and punch him in his face."

Vanessa laughs and says, "Ok, Punch Girl, go get the dinner now. Let's eat before we starve to death."

"Oh, you're right. Dinner is coming!", Rose says while turning to the kitchen.
