Obsession is a powerful thing. A thing that makes you go mad, something deep inside of you that is untrustworthy. Obsession is what controls our feelings. The want of something you cannot stop trying to obtain until you lose your mind completely.
And obsession over someone you love is the worst of it all. There is a hunger deep inside, a monster begging to escape, ready to tear you apart just to get its way. The need to kill anything or anyone so that they cannot take your love away. It is the worst and simply the most painful.
Izuku Midoriya had been this way since he was first brought into the light. He always thought there was something wrong with him. He didn't think like the other kids did. His mind was numb and vacant. There was an emptiness in his heart that was unfathomable. Maybe it was the fact he was born quirkless, or the fact that he was just different. He was ridiculed by his classmates. Poked and made fun of, the butt of every merciless joke. It was almost too unbearable. But Izuku smiled through it. He pretended, he was very good at pretending.
He pretended to be happy so nobody would discover the emotionless creature dwelling in the darkness. They didn't need to know that his false optimism was all for show. That there was only a black soul that was slowly deteriorating.
The only friend he could call his own, was a childhood buddy who went by the name of Y/N. Y/N was the only one who really, truly cared for Izuku. She didn't care that he was quirkless, she didn't care that people thought of him as weak. She would always be there to help him back onto his feet.
They had known each other since they were born, nursed by sisterly best friends, growing up together in the same neighborhood. Everyone knew of their strong bond. But Y/N didn't know that Izuku's feelings were fake. He didn't want to drive her away, in fear that she would leave him alone.
He was in love with her to say the least. It was an odd feeling. Something that he couldn't quite explain. He wasn't used to being in love. He was used to being fake and stone cold. He couldn't let them see what lies behind the curtain.
But his love for her would be the biggest mistake of his life. Because his love for her would soon become a menace in the night.

He was watching her again. Her window had been opened, her white curtains billowing in the wind. Izuku never missed an opportunity where he could watch her in precious slumber.
Sometimes he even liked to run his fingers through her hair when he thought she was in a deep enough sleep. Izuku was quiet, making sure to step around things to make sure not to wake her up. He slumped into the oak wood rocker.
Y/N was stirring in her sleep. Izuku stayed still until he was certain she was still asleep. His body was stiff, stomach tied in knots. There was always the possibility of her waking up. And it scared him that she wouldn't want him around anymore. That fear clung to him, something he would be unable to bear.
Closing his eyes, Izuku listened to Y/N breathing. Her breaths were steady and light. She was a heavy sleeper, that was certain. If he could stay like this for ever, it would be nice. He could imagine such a grand idea. It was perfect.
He was only fifteen, but he felt as if he could spend the rest of his life with her. It would sound creepy to anybody else, but to him it was the perfect fantasy. He wanted to hold onto it for as long as he could. But the image would disappear and the empty hole in Izuku's stomach would reappear, leaving him alone in the darkness.
He would have to leave soon. Surely his mother would notice him not at home, tucked underneath the covers of his comforting bed. But there was no comfort for Izuku. There was only darkness.
