Sophie's POV
"Are you excited for the game tonight?" Alyssa turns to ask me as we walk into English class.
"Yeah, but it's just like every other game, Aly. What's so special about just this one?" I grab a worksheet from the front of the classroom and then take a seat next to Andrew's desk.
"It's the first game of the season, duh." She rolls her eyes at me and takes a seat next to Josh.
"So? There will be many more." I sign heavily, hoping Andrew and Josh would show up sooner rather than later.
"What will there be many more of?" Josh walks in raising an eyebrow at Aly and I.
"Football games." Aly sighs.
"Don't tell me you're not going!" Josh takes his seat.
"I am! I just don't see the big hype. You know I'm not a big football fan." I tell him and he shakes his head just as Andrew walks in.
"If Soph doesn't wanna go then don't make her go." Drew defends me.
I stare at him gratefully.
"When's your first lacrosse game?" Everyone turns to look at me.
"Saturday, and oh, I need one of you to cover my shift on Saturday in the evening. I'm working the overnight shift." I explain to them briefly.
"I'll work it for you." Josh turns and smiles at me.
"Thank you, Joshy." I grin.
"I'm working the overnight shift as well, Soph." Drew looks up from writing on his worksheet.
"Sounds fun. Hey, what's the answer to number 5?"
--
"Are they even going to spend halftime with us?" I complain to Aly who's carrying all of our snacks and drinks.
"You know they are so why are you complaining?" She chuckles slightly, walking up the metal bleachers.
"I only came here to support them." I sass her.
"Uh whatever but during halftime I want to try and get some numbers." She smirked.
"Only you." I shake my head.
During the first half of the game, the other team scores 13 points while our team scores 16. Halftime rolls around extremely quick which means the marching band and the dance team get to perform.
"Cute guy. I'll be back." Aly rushes away before I could even reply.
I sit alone on the bleachers and scroll through my phone to not make myself look like a loner.
"This seat taken?" I look up to see Jacob standing in front of me.
"It was but now it's not." I giggle.
"That's unfortunate but it's mine now." He winks.
"So what brings you here?" I question.
"I'm here with Lexi. We wanted to come see Josh and Andrew play." He takes a sip of his Sprite.
"That's so nice of you guys. I'm sure they'll appreciate you guys coming along."
I look around below and spot Aly flirting with some random Hispanic guy.
I roll my eyes mentally at her. She flirts with everyone.
I eye Andrew staring intensely at Jacob and I from below and then spot Lexi walking up to him.
"Mind if I say 'hey' to Andrew?" I ask sweetly.
"I'll join." Jacob gets up with me and we talk down the bleachers.
We approach the two until Josh comes out of nowhere and gives me the biggest hug.
"Uh? Okay, Josh.." I trail off, confused as to why he's hugging me.
"I'm happy! We're winning." He gives me an adorable cheesy smile.
"Don't jinx it, bud." I pat him on the back and turn towards Andrew talking to Lexi.
" Hey-. " I get cut off by Lexi kissing Andrew on the lips before walking away. Rage rushes through my body.
"What was that?" I try to act cool.
"Well, Josh is interested in somebody else so he scored me a date with Lexi and I guess her and I are dating now." He shrugged like it was no big deal.
"What now?" I can't comprehend.
"What? It's no big deal, right?" He looked at me with a worried expression on his face.
No big deal? NO BIG DEAL? I practically scream out loud. Why am I acting like this? Why am I being jealous?
"Are you okay?" I look around anywhere but Drew's face.
I zone out entirely.
"Hello? Earth to Sophie." He waves his hands in front of my face.
"Huh?" I regain thought again.
"Nevermind. You enjoying the game?" He changes the subject.
I ignore him and turn to Jacob.
"Why don't we go on a date sometime?" I suggest to Jacob who smirks.
"I'd love to. Here's my number." He hands me his phone.
I look at an angry Andrew.
"What's wrong, Bazzi?" I look at him while smirking.
"Oh, nothing. Nothing at all. Everything's just fine." He storms away angrily.
Oh boy. what did I just start?
