Chapter Twenty Nine - Secrets
*Louis' POV*
I was so bloody mad at her. She was making this so much harder than it really should have been. I should have been able to leave her in about two minutes. I slept with her and just as I was about to tell her I was moving on, she turns right around and goes back to her old self. The girl I had initially fallen in love with. Which made my situation about three million times harder than it seriously was. I was about to pop a blood vessel.
It wasn't fair! Why couldn't I just pull her into a corner, give her a good shake, tell her it's time for me to move on, and just walk away? Oh yeah, because after I'd pulled her into a corner, I would have listened to the devil Louis on my shoulder, instead of the angel Louis, and snogged the life out of her or some stupid shit like that. I obviously could not control myself or even think straight around her. And Harry wasn't easing up the problem either. He wanted me to take care of her if anything happened to him. Right. Because Charlotte would totally agree with that. Sadly, a deep, dark part of me secretly wanted her to agree with it.
No! I wasn't thinking straight. Snap out of it, I thought to myself. She's nothing special. And above all, she's Harry's. She's always been Harry's.
But I was so wrong. She was something special. I was cheating on my current girlfriend (whom I hadn't talked to in about four and half days) with this girl. I loved her, even though I so desperately wanted not to. I shook my head in frustration.
She should have gone with me! I could have kept her safe. I wouldn't have let her out of my sight. But, she chose to go with Zayn instead because she believed he cared for her more than I did. Which was absolute bull shit. In fact, I probably would have taken her out of here and left the others to look around for Harry. But what happened? I was landed with Niall. Which was fine, I loved Niall, but he was terrified. He tried to act brave but I saw straight through him. He was seriously scared. For Harry, for himself, for Chelsea. Liam had been no different when he arrived. Danielle had not wanted him to leave with the baby's due date so close but she finally gave in. Liam was still texting and calling her every five minutes just to make sure she was okay.
I, on the other hand, had not talked to Adalyn ever since I had arrived. She had called me four times. Each time, I had denied her call. We did need to talk. I was just too big of a pussy to do so. She needed to know the truth. Who was I to keep her back?
"Lou? You still with me, mate?" Niall asked. I stopped and spun around to face him, smiling slightly and rubbing the back of my neck.
"Yeah. Sorry, Nialler. Just got a lot on my mind." I admitted. Niall nodded understandingly.
"Yeah, I figured. It must be maddening, all this." Niall said, looking around the dark hallway. I smirked. He was so innocent. He didn't know the half of it, bless his heart. I was going completely bonkers, yet Niall acted like it was okay and that this happens every day.
"You have no idea...you're lucky it's just you and Chelsea." I pointed out. Niall grinned then cleared his throat.
"I-um-was thinking..."
"You know I told you not to do that anymore." I teased, trying to ease the tension. Niall laughed happily and grinned, shaking his head.
"I'm going to ask Chelsea to marry me." I froze. Niall, the kindest and most gentle out of all of us. He could be hurt so easily. Yet, he wanted to get married?
"Are you mad?!" I demanded, grabbing his shoulders, giving him a little shake. Niall gripped my elbows, his eyes twinkling and full of adoration.
