The light breeze and the smell of pumpkin spice in the air told me fall would be approaching soon. Fall. Its one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. The leaves have already started changing from Green to red and brown. When I was a child I used to like to believe that if you kept a green leaf inside a cup of water it would keep it from changing colors, and I could keep some sense of summer still being here.
Summer. I almost forgot about it. Summer feels like a century to a child . But as we keep growing older it seems like there just aren't enough days of summer. Summer is full of love, sweat, mistakes, and tears. The relationships are the worst part, you'll meet someone and in 2 months time they are gone out of your lives until the next summer.
I couldn't bring myself to get out of bed that morning. Even the smell of my mother's homemade waffles couldn't pull me out of my funk. I needed a cigarette.
Reaching over towards my bag I noticed an envelope sticking out of the side pocket, my name was written on the front. I set the letter on my bad and reached back again for the pack of cigarettes. As I walked to the window, cigarette between my teeth and envelope in hand , I could see kids riding their bikes in the middle of the road, with cars honking all around them. They just kept on riding without a care in the world.
"Must be nice" I said aloud.
As I looked down at the envelope I could feel the cool icy smoke fill my lungs from my half lit cigarette. I hate it when they do that, because they don't burn right afterwards. The smell of smoke quickly filled the room. I opened up my window to let the air flow freely.
Once again I looked down at the envelope. All it said on the front was my name.
~violet~
I don't recognize the handwriting. It's beautiful. The way the lines cross over one another almost as if whoever wrote it wrote it back in the 1800s. I opened it up and there was a letter inside.
Dear violet
Please don't be angry with me for leaving so soon, I promise I will explain everything once I get back, I had some...family issues I had to tend to. But please forgive me in my absence. And when I return I shall make you my queen.
Xoxo- Lizz
Leave it up to Lizz to be dramatic like that. I laughed as I stared out the window waiting for her to arrive. She had spent the night last night, but she left some time early this morning.
...............................................…………………In the kitchen my mom had just finished cooking breakfast, walnut waffles, eggs and bacon. My favorite. I was just about to grab a waffle when my brother ran by and snatched it out of my hands.
"To slow!" He shouted as he took a giant bite and then handed it back to me. "I'm going to Justin's mom, I'll be back later." He said before he launched himself out the door. He knows mom doesn't like Justin. He's an outrageous party goer and he's going to end up getting my brother dragged down with him one of these days.
"I swear that boy is never going to learn his lesson." Mother said looking up from her mystery book.
Last year Justin and Tommy were out boating and they crashed into another boat. A little girl was very badly injured and they had to take her by helicopter to the hospital. The family was going to press charges, but at the court hearing they decided not to.
My brother was lucky enough to be set free and back to us. But he still hangs around Justin. I wish they would both clear up their acts. Or at least not do dumbass thing that'll get them caught and possibly thrown in jail.
I still needed to talk to Justin about what happened between us over summer. But I just can't figure out how to do it without ruining everything. He's a good guy, he just has a bad lifestyle. I decided to send him a text.
V- The sooner we talk the better.
J- I'm free now. Cum on over, pun intended btw.
V- wait isn't my brother there?
J- no why would he be here? I kicked him out last time he was here.
V- idk he said he was going to your house, but there's no telling where he's at. I'll be there in 15 minutes.
It's not like Tommy to lie to us about where he's going. I'm hoping it's just a girl and not something worse. Me and Tommy used to talk about everything. He was my best friend. But nothing's the same anymore........................
This is the first chapter of this book, I wrote half of this stoned out of my mind so please don't judge my errors too much😂😂 thanks for reading ig😂
