The land called Chungcheong was bordered on the north by Gyeonggi Province, on the north east by Gangwon, the east by North Gyeongsang Province, on the south by North Jeolla Province, and on the west by the Orient Sea. The region is mountainous in the Northern part and somewhat lower and flatter in the southern part.
The regional name for Chungcheong is Hoseo, although this name is used less than the current administrative name.
The northern part of today's North Chungcheong Province is the only land-locked province in Southern Goryo. dominated by the Noryeong Mountains to the north and the Sobaek Mountains to the east.
The most fertile of all the provinces and specializes in ginseng and silk weaving. There are mineral reserves founded here too. gold, iron, coal as well as marble and limestone in the northern part of the province.
The land is long held by King of Baekje, where House Jeon traced back their ancestry to a sagely man named Haeseong who built the Wiryeseong castle, the seat of Baekje Kings for many years and it's surrounding earthen walls under Onjo the first King of Baekje.
Haeseong himself is not only a mere builder, but the best strategist under Onjo's service,as he helped King of Baekje to defeat his brother,Biryu to claim the throne beforehand.
For Haeseong's loyal servitude, under the fourth King of Baekje,Buyeo Gaeru,in 132 Haeseong finally ennobled and given land in Cheongju where he spent the rest of his life to built the famous castle,Hare Hole. It was named so after Haeseong noticed a lot of hare burrows spread in the land where he supposed to built his castle and designed it like them, aside from taking the animal of these inspiration as his sigil.
To the ignorant eye,Hare Hole would seemed a modest holding, only fit for a landed knight or small lord. Curtain walls about the entrance to their castle, oak and iron gate flanked by pair of stout towers, with a keep, stables, kennels and a hall above the ground. But beneath are vast echoing ballrooms, barracks, galleries and snug bedchambers, the site of Hare Hole are once old gold mines that has long gone dry. Haeseong and his builders widened the tunnels into wide winding halls where five men could easily walk abreast, how long and where those paths ended is entirely unknown, due to the Jeon's policy to strictly and jealously guarded that knowledge, only to be passed down from one Head of the House to his or her heir, or to other close relatives that could hold to that secret wisely.
These paths are barred by oaken gate with hare shaped engraving and heavily locked, the keys to open all those doors are held only by the Head of House Jeon, thus made those keys the heirloom of the House.
(on one records made by a Lord Reaper of Venomwrangler dated when Haeseong still reign as Head of House Jeon, mentioned that Haeseong Lord Mayor of Cheongju once bought ten oxcart full of Reaper's Lullaby poison barrels. We could safely assume Haeseong used these foul substance to poisoned the builders after the construction of the castle has finished,so the tunnels secrecy would only belong to him and his descendants afterwards.)
Members of House Jeon from these part tend to have high aquiline nose, sharp jawline and milk-like skin color. These physical traits are highly desired among the nobles of the peninsula, coupled with the virility and fertility of their sons and daughters made them a highly sought highborn to marry, especially when the Houses in question are in dire need of an heir.
