The first thing she noticed was her killer headache. She tried to open her eyes but found they were too heavy. She tried to sit up but that made her headache feel like a Rhino stampede. Then the sound of doors bursting open and footsteps filled her ears.

Why am I here? She thought; confused. And who is that?
She tried to speak but her throat was so dry she could barely breath easily, let alone speak - not to mention it would have to be coherent if they (whoever was there) were going to have a conversation.

She heard an ear-breaking noise of a chair scraping against the floor and a thud like drums in a rock band as the sound vibrated through Hermione.

She tried to move but, yet again, it hurt worse than hell. She decided that if she was going to discover where she was then she would need to make her presence known - so once again she tried to sit up but the strain made her feel more sleepy than ever. She relaxed into the covers and almost fell asleep until she heard a familiar voice.

"Hermione, please wake up! I don't know what happened, but... You're my best friend, I can't live wothout you! Infact, you're not my best friend..."

At those words Hermione's heart seemed to stop beating. Even if he aggrivated her and annoyed her and grossed her out sometimes - he was the one who was supposed to be loyal! She didn't know what she would do if Harry and Ron hated her- everyone would think she had done something and she would become isolated all over again.
But then he continued; and everything changed.

"You're not my best friend because... You're so much more to me. I think I... I think I love you." At this he placed his sweaty, hard hand on her soft yet freezing ones and held it tightly - my circulation must be cutting off right now - she thought with disgust aimed at the red head.

"And I know that you were with him when you ended up here... And I'm going to make him pay. Malfoy won't know what's going to hit him."

Hermione froze. He was going to hurt him. He was going to hurt the man that she had, albeit unwillingly, had her first kiss with. Something cracked inside her then. Like a jolt of energy, a spring of an urge to protect.

Her eyes flew open and she opened her mouth to tell him that Draco never did anything wrong, but it was too late. He had already fled. He had gone to get him.

"No!!" She was suprised she had found her voice but she quickly disregarded the thought - there were more important matters at hand. Almost immediately after she had yelled, the school nurse, Madame Pomfrey, came bustling over to her and started healing her up more - but Hermione didn't pay much attention to that.

She was in the hospital wing - she was safe and had been knocked out for the remainder of the journey on the Hogwarts Express...
Now that her location had been confirmed, she needed to sort out another problem. She started counting the list in her head:
Ron's going after Draco.
I need to stop Ron.
I need to warn Draco.
I can barely sit up.
So how was she going to tell Draco?

Madame Pomfrey chose that moment to speak up about Hermione's condition. "Mrs.Granger..." Hermione cringed - she hated being addressed so formally. "It seems that when you blacked out on the Hogwarts Express you managed to bend your arm behind you - causing minor fractures that will heal overnight aslong as you just take this medicine.

Madame Pomfrey handed over a bottle containing a strange blue liquid that looked thick and smelt like rotten cabbage. Hermione recognised the potion immediately - it was a bone mending potion called 'Restoriortation'; or, in shorter form, the 'Fracture Fixer'.

"So I take this before I go to sleep and by morning I'll be ok?" Was morning the earliest she could leave? What about Draco!? "Yes, my dear. Is there anything I can get you?" Come to think of it, my throat is rather dry... "May I please have some Pumpkin Juice?" Madame Pomfrey nodded before walking into her office.
