It looks like everything is perfect. I was walking to school with my friend. He never realized anything different about me. He never did. He didn’t see the pain in my eyes as I looked down to the pavement. He was completely oblivious to all my changes in mood.

She was so beautiful. I pretend like I see nothing because I don’t want to seem like I care too much. If I cared too much she would think that I loved her and she could never find that out. She wouldn’t reciprocate the feeling so I could never risk her finding out. That wasn’t the only thing that I had to keep a secret.

~

He always seemed a little more muscular than most guys were. I thought it was just because he was always in the gym. I didn’t realize why he looked like that until I found out what I really was. On my 16 birthday, men in black suits came to my door. I thought they were here to tell me that my dad that was in Afghanistan was dead. My mom was a work at the time. The tall men came inside my house and told me to sit down, so I obeyed. I was so ready for the news that Daddy was dead and I didn’t know if I could take it or not. All of a sudden Colin burst into the room.

~

I had to be there when the men told her, it happened 2 years ago for me and I knew that she was more fragile than I was and that she wouldn’t be able to take it as well as I was able to when they told me. I saw the black Mercedes in the driveway and then saw the open front door. I thought I was too late and burst into her house to see her on her couch looking worried. “What the hell Colin?” she shouted at me for my sudden entrance.

“May I talk to you for a minute Addi?” I asked her.

“But these men wer-...”

“I know,” I interrupted.

“Just give me a minute with her please,” I pleaded to the messengers.

The two men looked at each other the shorter brown haired one seemed to think I was joking but the taller red haired man could see that I was one of them and nodded to me. I raced over to Addison and grabbed her hand and drug her into her bedroom upstairs.

“What is this all about Colin?” I questioned.

“Okay, I have never done this before so sit down on your bed,” he replied.

“What are you going to have sex with me or something?” I asked half joking with my voice quivering.

He blushed and replied “No,” and then he added “not right now,” probably saying it not for me to hear since it was barely audible.

I blushed a little and then said, “So why do I need to sit down?”

He looked like he was going to throw up. He was pacing  back and forth around my room. I was slightly concerned for what he was going to say. “Is my Daddy dead?” I inquired.

“No! You would know before me anyways. These men aren’t her to tell you that. They are messengers for the Yorpen people wh-...”

“Who the hell are ‘The Yorpen People’?

Not sure where I should go with the Yorpen People idea, what do you guys think?
