"Wow!" Your eyes light up as your big brother smoothes out his robe. Today he had joined your father's magic knights.

"Yeah, dad didn't give those other captains a chance to pick me." He smiles sheepishly.

"I didn't want to risk you embarrassing the family name." A rumble makes you and your brother look over at your father as he looks down on you both.

"Brother isn't an embarrassment." You hum with a smile. "He's going to be an awesome magic knight." Your brother relaxes a bit while father's green eyes narrow briefly.

"We'll see." He breathes before disappearing down the hall. You stand up and stretch.

"Lets go outside." You murmur starting out. He follows you out smiling slightly.

"How were your lessons?" He inquires.

"Fine." You purse your lips looking over the fields that surrounded your family's estate. The Wolfsteen family was a noble one, your father ruled with an iron fist. Your mother was said to be beautiful, but you didn't get the chance to paint her into your memory. Brother always spoke fondly of her. Neither of you really cared for your father, only because he was always so cold, and treated you like lesser humans.

"Mrs.Ladona said you snuck out again." He looks at you knowingly.

"... Patches was bored so I went running with him to the river." You shrug.

"Running with the dogs again..." He sighs shaking his head as he lets you take the lead. "Wild child." He mutters looking over his shoulder as the estate disappears from sight. "A commoner joined today too. Think his name was Zara?" He peers back at you.

"... What's a commoner again?" You glance at him. He sighs and shakes his head in disbelief.

"How do you not know?" He questions.

"I don't get it is all." You shrug. Some dogs spot you across the field, coming over to walk with you, tails wagging happily. "I don't care how much money people have. As long as they're nice."

"Alright then I've decided, lets go visit him. I don't think anyone has congratulated him on joining." Your brother rumbles, you look at him to find him smiling thoughtfully.

"He's worked hard for it, right?" You guess lightly. Brother always seemed to like hard working people. He kind to the servants too, said mom always was too.

"Very… Harder than most magic knights around here." He nods. He detours into the commoner village nearby, more dogs coming to greet you. "...___…"

"What? I run with them too." You smile, petting them. "Do you guys know where a Mr. Zara is?" You ask them. The only one that seems to respond was Izzy, a small brown mutt with a half tail. His floppy ears perk at the name, giving a slight bark before starting off. You smile and follow after him. Your brother sighs quietly but tags along without argument.

Izzy comes to a stop near the market giving a slight huff, nose pointing at a man that stood out from the rest. You blink, walking up to the man as he happily conversed with a merchant. Feeling your gaze he pauses and looks at you, blinking in confusion before leaning over.

"Are you lost?" He asks lightly with a head tilt and smile. He seemed so warm and friendly, a smile comes to your lips.

"I like this one brother." You say, looking over at your older sibling as he joins you.

"I knew you would." He smiles a bit.

"Hey, Brisk right? This your little sister?" Zara greets him, straightening up.

"Yes. We wanted to congratulate you for getting in. I know it hasn't been easy for you." Brisk places a hand on your head as he speaks. Zara blinks in surprise before lighting up with a grin.

"Thanks. I'm going to do my best." He declares, holding up a fist. You giggle a bit, catching his gaze again. "You know, my son's about your age, would you like to meet him?" He asks you. Brisk shifts at that and intervenes before you can speak.

"It's probably best if she didn't… She already skips lessons and she's quite persuasive. I fear she'll lead your son into trouble to be honest." He tells Zara.

"I wouldn't let him get caught." You huff offended. Brisk frowns at you while Sara chuckles lightly.

"Maybe he should go along with her. He's always such a good kid.." He trails off with a small smile. "Too bad. I think he'd like you."

You smile at that, already deciding to skip lessons tomorrow to meet the son of this interesting man. "Yeah. Too bad."

"Anyway, we should head back. I'll see you tomorrow." Your brother tells him, starting to guide you away. "Come along ___."

"Okay… Bye Mr. Zara." You wave cheerfully.
