Chapter 5: The first Basketball game

It was already September and it was finally the night of the first basketball game between CCHS and keystone high school. Everyone was at the gym rooting for their team. The cheerleaders cheered as the players played. Tommy had the ball. He dribbled it for a few minutes before blocking one of the players from the opposite team, then passed the ball to Diggle, who passed it to Ralph. Ralph had the ball, bouncing it while looking around the court. He saw that Roy was open. He threw the ball to Roy, who caught it. Roy bounced the ball and passed it to Ronnie. As Ronnie ran closer to the net, he jumped and threw the ball which landed in the net. Everyone cheered as his teammates high fived him. They now had a score of 10 to 12. Keystone was now starting with the ball. They dribbled the ball towards Ralph,who tried to steal it but missed. Keystone high were tough to beat. But CCHS could beat them, they knew they could. They tried to score but Nate blocked the ball with his hand from going in the net. Now Jax had the ball. He passed it to Rene,who scored. The game continued until it was a tie. The score was now 19 to 19. The players took a break while the cheerleaders performed their routine: Wolf pride! Wolf pride! We're steppin up, so step aside! We're the best, we're here to win wolf powers here again! Gary, who was wearing the Wacky the wolf mascot costume, danced while the cheerleaders performed. The game was almost over. The opposite team was starting with the ball this time. They were fast, but Nate was able to steal it. Nate now had the ball. He dribbled it for a few  seconds before passing it to Oliver. Oliver looked around the court for someone to pass the ball to. But everyone was blocked by the opposite team. Oliver stared at the clock/timer, he only had 20 seconds left. He had to take a chance. He threw the ball behind one of the opposing team members, but luckily Barry caught it. He made his way towards the net and scored. Game over. CCHS won. Iris jumped into Barry's arms and kissed him. Zari, Thea and Felicity got up from the bleachers and ran to their boyfriends. Gary did a victory dance as the CCHS basketball players and cheerleaders howled for their team.

Gary? Why are you still wearing that? Ava asked at lunch on Monday at school. School spirit, duh. And because I really love wearing it. Gary said as he put the head back on. And please, call me Wacky. Gary said before walking away from the table. As Gary walked across the cafeteria, Ray Palmer stopped him. It's Wacky! Ray said as he high fived the mascot.
