Hey! So im really excited to write the second chapter. I hope you like it. Enjoy :)
18 YEARS AGO: THE CRIME
Michael rushed across the dark corridor, his ambulance somewhat between running and jogging. The man was unabashedly handsome, with stiff rugged cheekbones, and full lips. Judging by his demeanor, the man seemed to be in a hurry. He was breathing severely, his face flushing shades of red as a small bead of sweat made its way across his cheek. He wiped it off carelessly, as he made his way to a giant door and came to an abrupt stop. In a matter of seconds the door flew open, banging loudly against the stone wall that lay behind. The chandelier inside the room took a soft swing as a breeze of air made past it, making clinking noises all the way. Michael stood at the doorway, and strode into the room without slackening his pace.
The room was dimly light; albeit the flickering chandelier that swayed softly, a few lanterns shone faintly in the room, giving the room an unusually eerie, but nevertheless beautiful glow. The grandeur of the room: the sea of bookcases pushed off to one side, and the intricacies of the wall itself cannot go unnoticed. The ceiling was a sun roof, slightly cone shaped, slanting upwards to one point, where a large chandelier hung.
Somewhere in the small corner, man and a woman, seriously engaged in a conversation sat on the other side of the room. They had a rather large piece of paper laid out in front of them, and the man was talking urgently, marking the paper in the process. The startling sound of the door immediately drew their attention to the man in the doorway. The woman craned her neck around her back to get a better look at the situation.
Michael said “Sir William, Ma’am…” He paused for a brief moment before continuing.
“We’ve been waiting for you Michael” Mr. Williams proclaimed as he rose up from his seat.
“Its Evans…they say he’s brought back Eswald Nadare” his voice quivered at the end.
Meredith Dwyer’s face turned pale, immediately. “Eswald Nadare” she said slowly as she rose from her seat; her pace was turning impossible paler, “he’s still loose on the streets?”
“Ma’am, he was first sighted in Havensmeade, and Belshore…” Michael nodded his voice slightly above a whisper, and “apparently it was Evans and some other woman that set his release. Two people sir…their condition is still severe, and a third died” he bowed his head down. “And the next target sir...would be the two little Andrew and Alayna, the Chosen Ones.”
Williams sigh as he ran his hand over the arm rest of his chair. “I want the entire security in the room within 10 minutes. We need to take preventive measures NOW.”
“10 minutes Michael, that’s all you’ve got…we’re running out of time.” the woman said impatiently, her face showing off an inexplicable frown. Her eyebrows furrowed as she looked back at Michael’s now retreating body. He strode away, now moving impossibly faster as he drew his own sword from its case.
“Williams, this is worse than we’ve imagined.” Meredith sighed. Williams nodded his head softly, his eyes still raking the map.
Without the faltering calm expression on his face, Williams said in an equally clam voice, but deadly whisper ,“Evans and Nadare, what a combination. It’ll be okay, Meredith…in time everything will be okay” His voice was flat towards the end, and he seemed to be convincing himself that everything will be ok, rather than consoling Meredith.
Behind that calm façade, a storm was brewing up in William’s heart; Williams knew who his first targets were: two children. If Williams really knew Nadare, he would have bet his life that both the children have lost the deadly battle. After all, besides Williams himself, the Andrew and Alayna had the powers to oppose Nadare. And as the chosen two were merely children, they wouldn’t have gotten powers yet. Nadare didn’t even give a chance to the chosen two.
