Walking down the street at this time at night was only ok if you weren't by yourself. With your friends laughing
around you with music blaring, loud enough to wake the neighbours and hear the complaints the next morning, it was fun hangout at 11 pm by the corner store across the street from the park, but today it was a nightmare.
The usual dewy smell mixed with fallen leaves should be comforting in this cool fall night, but tonight wasn't a time for late night walks, whispering secrets under the slight wind.
The sound of my combat boots hitting the pavement as I sprinted down the street and my heart beating out of my chest was all I could hear. I could feel the eyes still on me and I practically tripped turning the corner on the next street. I wanted to scream for help by I couldn't find my voice and didn't dare to stop to catch my breath. I know the eyes are still watching me, and I can't find a way to escape them.
When i rounded the next street, that's when I heard the screams. "CARTER!! CARTER!!!!!" Running as fast as possible, I threw open the front gate to my house and climbed the front steps. Once I got to the door, the erie screams stopped. The door had been kicked in, and I could see the muddy footprints covering the polished wooden floor and I made my way slowly to the kitchen. " Annabelle... please, where are u." I whispered . I could smell the blood as I Itched my way up the stairs to the second floor. As I got to the top steps, I saw her on the floor covered in blood. As the sirens got louder and closer, all I could think is that this was all my fault, all of this, everything.
