CHARLIEOut of all the places they could've moved to, they had to pick Hawkins, Indiana. Even Missouri was a better option than Indiana. For the past 33 hours, the family of five had been crammed in the tiny car, driving to their new home. The family can all thank Susan for the move. Despite the argument that it was a mutual decision, Charlie knew that Susan planted the idea into her father's head. One thing for sure is that none of the children were happy with the idea, especially Max. The car had begun to slow down on the dirt road as it pulled into the driveway of a small creme colored house. Turning the car off, Neil Hargrove turned towards the children sitting in the back, a large smile on his face.
"Welcome to our new home," he announced, as Susan let out a small squeal of delight. Looking to her left, Charlie's brother, Billy Hargrove, sat in the car, scowling at the house. Placing a comforting hand on his shoulder, the blond male turned his attention towards his younger sister. Shrugging her hand off, he pushed open the door, quickly getting out the car. Letting out a huff of annoyance, the female Hargrove followed in suit. The afternoon sun was now starting to set, a cool breeze blew her hair. One thing for sure that was different was the drastic change in weather.
"So, what do you guys think? Pretty nice, huh?" Susan sighed, admiring the house.
"It'd be better if we didn't have to move to this shithole of a town," Billy muttered, kicking a pebble that rested right next to his shoe. Not having any patience for his sons disrespect, Neil took a step towards him. Charlie mentally cursed her brother out at his behavior.
"Young man, I thought I told you that if—It's okay, Neil," the women interjects, not wanting things to escalate.
"It's not okay, Susan! He can't—Why don't Max, Billy, and Charlie go into town for a little and explore? The moving van hasn't arrived yet but we can start unpacking what's been delivered," she offered.
"Fine. I want you guys back here by 9 on the dot, and no later," Neil stated.
"Yes, sir," Charlie and Max replied, earning a approving nod from the man.
"Billy, keep an eye on Maxine and Charlene," he ordered, receiving a quiet, 'Yes, Sir' in response.
"Here, borrow your dad's car, we'll see you guys later," Susan took the keys that were in her husband's hand, giving them to the bitter teen. Shooing them off, she directed her husband towards the house, leaving the three teens by the car. Max went to open the passenger side of the car only to have it slammed shut. Looking up, the red head frowned at the sight of her stepbrother in front of her.
"Children ride in the back," Billy said, motioning to the backseat. Agitated, she hopped into the backseat, slamming the door behind her. Satisfied, the blonde male made his way to the driver seat. Rolling her eyes, second Hargrove entered the passenger seat.
