The Arranged Married

Chapter 6

07.30 PM, at Martin Sun Park, Batam.

Rose just finishes chicken wings that Vanessa took for her. Vanessa knows that chicken wing is one of Rose's favourite food. Even though Rose tried to refuse the full plate of chicken wings, but everyone can see that she was shy and happy at the same time. After being insisted by Vanessa, Rose then accepted the chicken wings then ate it slowly. In the end, she didn't take any other food from the dining table, chicken wings are enough to her.

Sean sits in front of Rose and he can't take away his attention to this woman in front of him. Since the first time they met, this woman has been taking his attention. Along the BBQ dinner, he has been trying to have conversation with Rose, but it always ends up she ignores him or just gives him a short answer. He realizes that Rose is not only giving this kind of attitude to him, but she also reacts the same to the Bob and Jay. But, since Bob and Jay are more interested with Vanessa, so they rarely talk with Rose.

"I think I need to go home first.", Rose says.

"Really? Is there anything urgent?", Vanessa asks.

Rose nods. "Yes, there are too many things need to be packed by tonight. So, the courier can pick them up on tomorrow morning."

"What things?", Sean asks.

"Something that none of your business.", Rose answers and it makes the rest of them laugh.

"Rose has an online shop, it keeps growing month to month but she insists to work alone. That's why she always stays in the apartment doing her job.", Vanessa answers for Sean.

"What about you?", Bob asks Vanessa.

"Me? I'm currently jobless."

"Why don't you help Rose then?", Sean asks.

Vanessa chuckles. "I don't have packing skill and she won't let me do that."

"Anyway, I'll go home first. Thanks for the treat.", Rose says before she steps off leaving them.

"Is she always like that? I mean, sorry to say but she is like... trying too hard to not get close to us.", Fanny asks Vanessa.

"Yeah, I agree with Fanny.", Jay says.

"No, she is just a hard worker. Do you know when workaholic is being super busy and all things inside of their mind are only related about their work? That's her. But besides of that, she is a truly caring person.", Vanessa answers. "Maybe we should hang out when she decides to have an off day. So, you all can see how nice she is."

"That's a good idea! Can I save your number please? So, we can contact each other when the day comes!", Bob says while passing his mobile phone to Vanessa.

Sean takes Bob's mobile phone before Vanessa takes it. "Just save my number, besides I'm your neighbour. If there's anything happened, don't hesitate to contact me."

Vanessa smiles then save the number that Sean gives her.

Not long after that, Vanessa walks back to her apartment. Sean and his friends are preparing to clean the BBQ area. Vanessa wanted to help, but they insisted her to not do anything about it. When she walks into the apartment lobby, she sees someone who looks familiar sitting on the sofa, Dave. Dave sees her and stands up, then he walks approaching Vanessa.

"What... What are you doing here?", Vanessa asks. She can feel her lips trembling and her heart is beating fast.

Dave holds her hands. "I miss you."

Vanessa can't hold her tear. "I miss you too."

They hug each other and it's getting people's attention to them.

"I've talked to my family."

"What?"

"You're the only woman I want to be wife. Although they couldn't accept my decision at first, but after I keep convincing them, finally they accept my decision."

"Really? I'm so happy to hear that!"

"We can be together forever now!"

They both laugh happily and feel relief at the same time.

"Hmm... Vanessa?", suddenly there is someone standing not far from them calling Vanessa.

"Sean?"

Sean looks tired with his uncontrollable breath, then approaches to them and passes a mobile phone to Vanessa. "It's yours. You left it at BBQ area."

Vanessa takes the mobile phone. "Oh, how stupid I am. Thanks, Sean. You must be so tired running here because of this phone. By the way, this is Dave, my fiancé."

Sean and Dave shake hand. "I'm Sean, neighbour from 8th floor. But I think you need to go back to your apartment right now, Rose called you and she said she's not feeling well. That's why I immediately run after you."
