There was a quiet, very subtle noise as we awoke, unbeknownst to our surroundings. Suddenly a massive door opened, the light was blinding nearly from the dark room. We clumsily stepped out into the street, there were twenty of us, ten men, ten women.
I glanced about with dark, soulful eyes. I was terrified, and uneasy around these people I didn't know. I felt a chill run down my spine as a voice spoke from through massive speakers that hung from the building ledges. I found myself contemplating just running off. Everyone else seemed uneasy as well. Maybe this was my chance. "Welcome to Survival of the Jaeger- Goodluck! Weapons of class 8 and 9 are allowed; This includes knives and bows! Make a good show out there, everyone!" The voice spoke through the speakers. I found myself watching the floor rise up a bit, enough to allow us to get knives and such but not enough to squeeze through the gap. I noticed a few younger individuals, whom of which couldn't be older than 12, terrified and bewildered. Children were playing a part in this sick game.
I glanced around before darting forward and sliding my arm into the dark slit to grab a knife. I turned quickly, knocking another person down by stabbing their shin, and I quickly grabbed another knife and darted off down a few streets and clambered into an alley. I was to trust no one. If there was a wounded, it would be the first to die from whatever we were to kill whether it be other humans or ourselves... or something else.
Now and then this loud clanking happened, like metal being dropped, and hitting concrete. It was a quiet noise but from my new vantage point, a top a small building, I could clearly see something... it was hard to describe because when I looked at it directly, it seemed to change colour to whatever was behind it. So I had to see it from the corner of my eyes.
I felt this feeling wash over me as I turned my head away from it, a feeling of uncertainty, and safety. But I knew, I was in danger. I was far too close to this creature... for all I know I could already be dead.
