"I'm sad to hear of the owner's passing. I trust that you two can handle this case." Gavin nodded as Nines spoke up.
"Thirium was found at the crime scene," began the android. This caught Chief Porter's attention right away. She frowned.
"Do you think a deviant was involved?" she interrupted, earning a stony glance from Reed. Nines nodded. Chief Porter straightened up. "Alright, you boys can leave." She waved them to her office door.
"Chief?" Reed had a feeling he was getting kicked off the case.
"Thank you." The detective got the message and begrudgingly turned to leave. As he opened the door, he heard the Chief dial something into the landline. He and Nines had left the office and the door had begun to close when he caught the very beginning of a conversation.
"Kyle, can you come up to my offi-" the door closed, sealing off the rest of the Chief's sentence.
